Poster Mania: X-Men: Days of Future Past, Maleficent, Edge of Tomorrow, and More
This week’s Tuesday Poster Mania should almost be renamed Character Poster Mania. With anticipated releases like X-Men: Days of Future Past, Maleficent, and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For all showing off character posters, the bulk of this week’s posters are specialized. However, more “normal” movie posters also came out for Edge of Tomorrow, A Million Ways to Die in the West, Love, Rosie, and Fed Up.
All the posters (including all 23 for Days of Future Past) are featured below. Enjoy!
A huge gallery (23 international character art to be exact) released yesterday for X-Men: Days of Future Past. Since X-Men is basically combining the new and old characters, it makes sense there’d be a lot of different character posters for the movie. If you’d like to see basically every character (from Jennifer Lawrence’s to Peter Dinklage’s), check out the full gallery below. Bryan Singer’s latest X-Men film releases May 23rd. I also found five character posters for Disney’s live-action Maleficent film yesterday. This one will most notably star Angelina Jolie, but she’ll be flanked by Elle Fanning (Super 8) and Sharlto Copley (Elysium). Robert Stromberg’s directorial debut hits theaters a week after Days of Future Past on May 30th. Again, check out the full gallery below. (Source: Empire)
Two posters for Edge of Tomorrow (both above) came online this past week, too. As you can see, Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt (Looper) headline this summer blockbuster. The sci-fi action flick looks like it takes pages from Groundhog Day and RoboCop (which I know is a weird combination). Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity) directs the pic that is set to release June 6th in the U.S. (Source: IMP Awards)
Back to the character posters, I’ve attached ones for Mickey Rourke and Jessica Alba’s characters in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. They’ll be joined by a stellar cast that includes Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Eva Green on August 22nd. Robert Rodriguez (Machete) and Frank Miller (The Spirit) co-directed the sequel. The most inappropriate (but funniest) poster is for A Million Ways to Die in the West. Inappropriate describes the film best because the raunchy comedy definitely doesn’t look like a family film. It’ll star Seth MacFarlane (who directed the pic), Charlize Theron (Monster), and Liam Neeson. Check this film out alongside Maleficent on May 30th. (Source: Flicks and Bits)
With the two teasers, Love, Rosie also released two posters. The rom-com (directed by Christian Ditter) stars Lily Collins (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones) and Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire). This one releases October 24th. (Source: IMDb)
The final poster is probably the most unique of the bunch. The movie (titled Fed Up) is actually a documentary about dietary guidelines in the U.S. Stephanie Soechtig directs the limited released film that comes out already this Friday (May 9th). Enjoy the poster above!
Come back tomorrow for the next Photo Mania. Oh, and if you missed yesterday’s trailers, move on over there now!
