Poster Mania: Interstellar, Transformers: Age of Extinction, and More
Welcome back to another Poster Mania. After what seemed like a short week, I’m back at it with a lone new poster for the following films: Interstellar, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Maleficent, When the Game Stands Tell, Let’s Be Cops, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, and And So It Goes.
As always, scroll to find the posters and info on each movie. Also, check out yesterday’s trailers if you missed that post.
If you are like me, it is a good year when a new Christopher Nolan movie is coming out. In my mind, the acclaimed director can practically do no wrong. However, fans of his also can become frustrated with his lack of transparency. I personally like not knowing a whole lot about a movie going into it (one reason I loved Inception). This year we’ll be graced with Interstellar, which is some funky alternate reality-type film. The truth of the matter is we don’t know a whole lot about the movie yet. The latest teaser poster does tease mankind’s demise, though. Nolan’s latest stars Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, and comes out November 7th. (Source: THR)
Long before Nolan’s next movie is the typical blockbuster season. Headlining that blockbuster season is the fourth Transformers pic. Fully titled Transformers: Age of Extinction, the newest one (set to come out June 27th) switches up the stars with Mark Wahlberg headlining the project. I think the newest poster (above) is the most fun of the bunch we’ve gotten, but fun doesn’t necessarily have me excited to see the latest movie. For those that didn’t know, Michael Bay will again be directing the movie. (Source: EW)
Even earlier than the previous movies will be Disney’s release of the live-action film Maleficent that’ll delve into the iconic villain’s backstory. Starring Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning (Super 8), the movie is gaining a lot of steam heading into its May 30th release. Robert Stromberg will make his directorial debut and the latest IMAX poster is now available above. (Source: Ain’t It Cool News)
I’ll be honest: I hadn’t heard about the upcoming football film When the Game Stands Tall until I recently caught up with Draft Day. While there, I saw the first trailer for the movie that is set to release August 22nd (right in front of football season). With talent like Jim Caviezel (CBS’s Person of Interest) and Laura Dern (I Am Sam) involved, I thought I’d at least attach the latest poster. Thomas Carter (Coach Carter) directed the movie. Also debuting a new poster was the comedy Let’s Be Cops. On the surface this film wouldn’t usually appeal to me. However, with New Girl’s Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans, Jr. involved, I’m much more likely to go along with this one. Check out the latest poster above for Luke Greenfield’s (The Girl Next Door) comedy that is set to come out August 13th. (Source: JoBlo)
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day also showed off a new poster. Going along with yesterday’s trailer, this Disney movie is also gearing up for a big release. I didn’t know a lot about this project before (other than that it was based on a book), but it’s reassuring to see names like Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner involved. Miguel Arteta (Cedar Rapids) directed the film that’ll hit theaters October 10th.
To finish this week off, I’ve attached a new poster for And So It Goes as well. This film stars Michael Douglas and Diane Keaton and is directed by Rob Reiner (Stand By Me). This one comes out July 11th and will see Douglas playing a very hatable realtor. Check out the poster above! (Source: Collider)
