Photo Mania: Transformers: Age of Extinction, Guardians of the Galaxy, and More
Welcome to the midpoint in the work week. To treat yourself, you should check out the photos below for upcoming movies. If you want specific movies, you’ll find the latest photos (and some full galleries) for Transformers: The Age of Extinction, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Giver, Snowpiercer, Lost River, Clouds of Sils Maria, and Strangerland.
Three photos premiered for Michael Bay’s fourth Transformers pic – Transformers: Age of Extinction – and they’re all about the actual Transformers. Besides the gigantic robots, the film stars Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci (The Hunger Games), and more. Expect to see a new trailer soon and the full movie on June 27th. (Source: Empire)
Two photos debuted on social media for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. While I think they’ve done a great job integrating Iron-Man, Thor, Captain America, and all the other heroes up to this point, I am very excited to see how much Marvel can expand their Cinematic Universe. Guardians is directed by James Gunn (Super) and comes out August 1st. It stars Chris Pratt (in both pictures above), Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, and more. (Source: Facebook)
Also, you should check out the three photos sent over to us for The Giver. Yet another adaptation of a popular novel (this being the 1994 utopia of the same name by Lois Lowry), The Giver is no doubt exciting fans. It also helps that Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, and Katie Holmes are involved. This one is directed by Phillip Noyce (Salt) and comes out two weeks after Guardians of the Galaxy on August 15th.
I’ve also found nine photos for Snowpiercer. For those that don’t know, the film stars Chris Evans, Tilda Swinton, and Octavia Spencer. Also exciting is that it is Bong Joon-ho’s (Mother) next film. If you want to see some stills, check below. If you want to wait to see the movie, you’ll have to wait until June 27th. (Source: Collider)
Ryan Gosling’s directorial debuted (titled Lost River) released a gallery of photos online I thought I’d attach. Set to come out at this month’s Cannes Film Festival, the fantasy neo-noir looks like it was influenced by Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive. Speaking of which, Gosling and Christina Hendricks star in this one that will get a firm U.S. soon I’m sure. (Source: IndieWire)
Olivier Assayas’ (Something in the Air) next film, Clouds of Sils Maria, showed off its first photos as well. Being another Cannes film (set to play in a week and a half), this one is still awaiting a U.S. date. I’m sure it won’t have a problem finding one though because the talent involved (Kristen Stewart, Juliette Binoche, and Chloe Grace Moretz) is too irresistible. It’s also been selected to compete for the Palme d’Or which is undoubtedly a good sign. Check out all the photos! (Source: IndieWire)
And to conclude things, I’ve attached the first look at Strangerland. Kim Farrant’s thriller stars Nicole Kidman and Joseph Fiennes (Enemy at the Gates). Dealing with a crippling dust storm and the disappearance of their two children, this has the premise to be exciting. We’ll see when the movie comes out sometime next year (a firm date hasn’t been released yet). (Source: IndieWire)
