Poster Mania: Transformers: Age of Extinction, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, and More
Hello and welcome to this week’s Poster Mania. Today’s post isn’t the most star-studded of the bunch, but there are some up-and-coming movies worth spotlighting. There are still some sequels (like Transformers: Age of Extinction, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and Dolphin Tale 2) but the majority aren’t (like Kill the Messenger, Wish I Was Here, A Walk Among the Tombstone, and Book of Life).
Enjoy all the posters below and check out yesterday’s trailers if you get the chance.
The first posters come by the way of Transformers: Age of Extinction. Unlike the other posters for this movie, these are propaganda ones via their viral campaign. All five posters are below and show a glimpse of the human vs. robots landscape portrayed in the film. Although Michael Bay is returning as director, Mark Wahlberg is taking over as the star with Stanley Tucci and Kelsey Grammer also appearing. Age of Extinction releases June 27th. (Source: Collider)
I’ve also attached a poster for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. I should warn you the poster is a little risqué – hence why the MPAA didn’t allow the poster to make it to theaters. However, it was released via the Interent so I thought I’d attach it. A Dame to Kill For, as you can see, features Eva Green (but it also stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Josh Brolin, and more). Robert Rodriguez (Sin City) and Frank Miller (The Spirit) direct the comic book movie that should release August 22nd. (Source: Rotten Tomatoes)
Another sequel (albeit much different) – Dolphin Tale 2 – also released a poster. Charles Martin Smith returns as director with Henry Connick Jr., Ashley Judd, and Morgan Freeman among the ones reprising their roles. If you were a fan of the original, check out the new poster. This one releases a little bit later on September 19th. (Source: Fandango)
Just like yesterday’s new trailer, I’ve got a poster for Kill the Messenger. This movie tells the story of a disgraced reporter that is driven to the brink of suicide. It is based on Gary Webb’s book (of the same name) and stars Jeremy Renner, Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Smashed), and Michael Sheen. Michael Cuesta’s (Roadie) film releases October 10th and the colorful new poster is above. (Source: Collider)
Zach Braff’s (Garden State) Kickstarter-funded Wish I Was Here also sent over a new poster. The movie stars, among others, Braff, Josh Gad (Frozen), Kate Hudson, and Jim Parsons (CBS’s The Big Bang Theory). Wish I Was Here is approaching its July 25th release date.
I also wanted to pass along the new poster for A Walk Among the Tombstone. This action-drama movie most notably stars Liam Neeson (go figure). It is directed by Scott Frank (The Lookout) and is based on Lawrence Block’s novel. Check out the poster before the movie comes out September 19th alongside Dolphin Tale 2. (Source: IGN)
Lastly, I wanted to attach the poster for the animated film The Book of Life. This one has a voice cast that includes Channing Tatum, Zoe Saldana (Avatar), and Ron Perlman (Hellboy). I’m most excited for the visuals in this film (given Guillermo del Toro’s involvement as producer), and the poster shows off the cool visuals. The Book of Life releases on October 17 and is directed by animator Jorge Gutierrez. (Source: Collider)
