Trailer Round-Up: Hercules, The Giver, Sex Tape, and More
To start this week off, I’ve included seven new trailers for you! Below you can find the latest looks at Hercules, The Giver, Sex Tape, Are You Here, The Best of Me, Very Good Girls, and If I Stay.
I’ve also included a little blurb about each film below the videos!
Brett Ratner’s (Tower Heist) Hercules adaptation may have been partially overshadowed by the other Hercules film this year. However, Paramount is hoping audiences will still flock to their release July 25th. The good news is the film looks better than the other one. It also helps that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson stars in their version. To tout the release, Paramount released another trailer that’s above.
A few weeks after Hercules will come the movie adaptation The Giver (based on Lois Lowry’s novel). I am particularly excited for this movie because I just finished the book this past week. I’m also looking forward to this movie because Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep headline it with Brenton Thwaites (Maleficent) playing the main character, Jonas. I’m really hoping they can capture the essence of the book, and all (well, most) signs point to yes. Check out the trailer before Phillip Noyce’s (The Bone Collector) movie comes out August 15th.
Switching gears a bit, I’ve embedded the latest Sex Tape trailer. I wouldn’t consider this one of my go-to movies this summer, but Jason Segal is definitely one of my favorites. I’ll probably check this out, and if you are wanting to, I’d check out the trailer above since there are some funny bits. Sex Tape is directed by Jake Kasdan (Bad Teacher) and hits theaters July 18th (one week before Hercules).
If you’re a fan of AMC’s Mad Men and Matthew Weiner (the creator), you probably knew he had a film coming out soon. Written and directed by Weiner himself, the film released a trailer this past week before its August 22nd playdate. As you can see, the film stars Owen Wilson, Zach Galifianakis, and Amy Poehler. Check out the trailer if the project interests you.
Nicholas Sparks is having yet another movie come to the big screen. This one, titled The Best of Me, is based on his 2011 novel. As for starpower, The Best of Me is headlined by James Marsden (X-Men) and Michelle Monaghan (Source Code). As for the director, Michael Hoffman (Gambit) lead this adaptation. The first trailer is above for the film that doesn’t come out until October 17th.
Naomi Foner’s (writer of Running on Empty) film, Very Good Girls, also released a trailer. The movie debuted way earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival, and probably caught people’s attention because its cast included Dakota Fanning (War of the Worlds), Elizabeth Olsen (Oldboy), and Demi Moore (Ghost). Foner’s directorial debut now has a trailer and should release on June 24th.
To end things, I’ve included the Prologue to the film If I Stay. This is a little bit different than the traditional trailer, so I thought people might want to check it out. If I Stay is based on a book (go figure) and is directed by R.J. Cutler (The September Issue). As for talent, Chloe Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass) is probably the biggest name, but it is also worth mentioning the movie stars Mireille Enos (World War Z). Go ahead and check out the Prologue above before the movie comes out alongside Are You Here on August 22nd.
Come on back tomorrow to see the newest posters.
