Trailer Round-Up: Guardians of the Galaxy, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and More
Welcome to another week here at Film Equals. Like every other Monday, today’s post focuses on the newest trailers. There were quite a few that didn’t make the cut, but the seven most relevant trailers belong to Guardians of the Galaxy, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, The Expendables 3, Let’s Be Cops, The Two Faces of January, Frank, and The Good Lie.
Each trailer, along with information about the film (such as stars, director, and release date), is below.
Another international trailer hit the web ahead of Guardians of the Galaxy. James Gunn’s (Super) film stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana (Avatar), Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper (credited for his voice). Check out the latest trailer above before the full movie releases August 1st.
Before Guardians of the Galaxy (one of the year’s last summer blockbusters), Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) gives us Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Set to release on July 11th, the latest Planet of the Apes film looks like it has some really good potential. Check out the final trailer above before seeing the movie that stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty), and Keri Russell.
The Expendables 3 (directed by Red Hill’s Patrick Hughes) is our third new trailer of the week. This action pic has quite the cast (Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, and more), which surely has people excited. I still haven’t seen any of these films, but I have until August 15th to check them out.
Switching gears a bit, I’ve included a new red-band trailer for Let’s Be Cops. This Rated-R comedy stars Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans, Jr. (both of FOX’s New Girl) and looks like it also has some potential. Luke Greenfield (The Girl Next Door) is the director of this one that is set to release August 13th.
We were also sent over a new trailer for The Two Faces of January. Hossein Amini’s directorial debut is an adaptation of Patrica Highsmith’s novel (of the same name) and stars Viggo Mortensen (The Lord of the Rings), Kirsten Dunst (Spider-Man), and Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis). Go ahead and watch the trailer above and the entire thriller starting October 3rd.
Lenny Abrahamson’s (What Richard Did) comedy, Frank, debuted a new trailer as well. Most may not have heard a lot about this film, but I think it is pretty intriguing. If nothing else, the inclusion of Michael Fassbender should get you on board. Check out this film in limited theaters starting August 22nd.
Last, but not least, is the trailer for The Good Lie. Philippe Falardeau’s (Congorama) drama stars Reese Witherspoon and Corey Stoll (Netflix’s House of Cards). This one is based on a pretty wild true story, so I’m excited to see how it plays out on screen. Unfortunately, I’ll have to wait until October 3rd to see it.
