Clip Mania: Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Earth to Echo, and More
Happy Independence Day everyone! Before you go watch fireworks (or perhaps blow them off), make sure to check out our normal Friday Clip Mania. As a side note, if you’re looking for this week’s releases, I published them earlier.
In today’s post, you’ll find four clips for the blockbuster Dawn of the Planet of the Apes as well as one for the following: Earth to Echo, I Origins, Happy Christmas, The Fluffy Movie, School Dance, and The Class of ’92. Enjoy them all below.
Just one more week, folks! All indications are that Matt Reeves’ (Cloverfield) Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is a special blockbuster. Although we can’t see the movie in full until July 11th, four new clips are available above. The film stars Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty), Keri Russell, Gary Oldman, and, of course, Andy Serkis!
Technically, Earth to Echo has already released. Since the Fourth of July weekend messes up the normal timing of releases, Dave Green’s sci-fi film already came out on Wednesday. Still, you can check out the new clip if you’re looking into seeing the movie in the future. It stars newcomers Teo Halm and Brian Bradley.
Mike Cahill’s (Another Earth) next project, I Origins, released a clip as well. Like Another Earth (a movie I really liked), Brit Marling stars. Michael Pitt (HBO’s Boardwalk Empire) and Steven Yeun (AMC’s The Walking Dead) also appear in the sci-fi film that already premiered at Sundance. Check out the clip above and the full film come July 18th.
Happy Christmas – the latest from Joe Swanberg (Drinking Buddies) – is already out through VOD services. If you don’t know whether to check it out, a new clip is above. The film stars Swanberg himself alongside Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect) and Melanie Lynskey (Coyote Ugly). Happy Christmas gets a more traditional theatrical release on July 25th.
At my viewing of Transformers: Age of Extinction, I caught a trailer for The Fluffy Movie. Today, I have a clip for the stand-up comedy film featuring Gabriel Iglesias’ jokes. I’m not very familiar with his stand-up work, but if you are, I’d check out the clip. Manny Rodriguez’s film releases on July 11th as well.
Just like Earth to Echo, the movie School Dance released earlier this week. Also like Echo, School Dance uploaded a clip online. The comedy musical is noteworthy because artist Nick Cannon directed the film. It stars Bobb’e J. Thompson (Snowmen) and Luenell (Hotel Transylvania). The clip is above for you.
I’ve included today’s final clip (one for The Class of ’92) because of the soccer hysteria here in the U.S. Although we suffered a sad defeat Tuesday, there has definitely been a peak in fandom. If you’re interested in a movie about Manchester United players, check out the clip. Benjamin Turner and Gabe Turner’s (In the Hands of the Gods) documentary already released overseas and is awaiting a U.S. date.
Have a fantastic holiday weekend!
