Trailer Round-Up: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, Guardians of the Galaxy, and More
This past week has been a spawning ground for full-length debut trailers. We got the first substantial looks at Gone Girl, Exodus: Gods and Kings, Unbroken, and Wild. On top of that, we got exciting trailers for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, Guardians of the Galaxy, and The Zero Theorem.
Make sure to check out all seven trailers below for this exciting Trailer Round-Up.
Another teaser went viral for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 (check out the first one here). It again features Donald Sutherland (playing President Snow) but gives us a look at the impending revolution. Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, and Josh Hutcherson all return to Francis Lawrence’s follow-up that releases on November 21st.
Up to this point, we’ve had six big blockbusters (I’d argue four of them are good, too). The next big movie on the horizon is Marvel’s next, Guardians of the Galaxy. Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana (Avatar), Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper are just some of the names involved in this one. If you want another extended look at the movie, check out the latest trailer. James Gunn (Super) directs the superhero movie that comes out August 1st.
After debuting some posters last week, a new trailer released for David Fincher’s (Seven) Gone Girl. Having just finished the book a week ago (and becoming completely enamored with it), I was excited to see the trailer. I am really curious how they’ll establish the timeline and structure in the movie, but the trailer looks to keep some of the aspects from the book intact. Ben Affleck and Rosemund Pike (Pride and Prejudice) star in the movie that is coming out October 3rd.
Ridley Scott’s (Prometheus) next film – the biblical epic Exodus: Gods and Kings – debuted its first full-length trailer this week. The film isn’t set to come out until December 12th, so we’ll get a lot more on this film in the future. Christian Bale stars as Moses with Joel Edgerton (Zero Dark Thirty) taking on the role of Ramses. Check out the trailer now.
You can also watch the first full-length trailer for Angelina Jolie’s (In the Land of Blood and Honey) drama Unbroken. Unfortunately, this past week saw the death of Olympic athlete Louis Zamperini, who is the focus of the film. Still, this is a good tribute to his life and his story is pretty much made for Hollywood. Unbroken stars Jack O’Connell (Harry Brown) and Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy) with a release date set for December 25th.
Keeping with the theme of full-length premieres, you can also check out the first trailer for Wild. Starring Reese Witherspoon (Mud), the movie focuses on Cheryl Strayed and her journey across the Pacific Crest trail. Jean-Marc Vallee (Dallas Buyers Club) is directing and the movie will come out December 5th.
Finishing things off is the kookiest trailer of the week – The Zero Theorem. Fans of Terry Gilliam (12 Monkeys) will recognize the strange style of the trailer. On the other hand, people that don’t know a lot about Gilliam will find the trailer very bizarre. Check it out for yourself above before the Christoph Waltz-fronted film releases on August 19th.
Come back tomorrow for the latest posters.
