Clip Mania: Lucy, The Purge: Anarchy, Let’s Be Cops, and More
Happy Friday! In today’s Clip Mania, the slate is pretty varied. It includes everything from action (Lucy) to horror (The Purge: Anarchy) to raunchy comedies (Let’s Be Cops) to even disaster films (Into the Storm). In between, you’ll find clip(s) for Wish I Was Here, The Hundred-Foot Journey, and Video Games: The Movie.
First things first, I have three clips for Luc Besson’s (The Family) action film Lucy. It stars Scarlett Johansson as the title character with Morgan Freeman also appearing. Go ahead and check out the clips now before the movie releases on July 25th.
Even before Lucy comes this weekend’s release of The Purge: Anarchy. To gear up for the release (starting technically last night), I have two new clips for James DeMonaco’s sequel. The newest film stars Frank Grillo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), Zach Gilford (NBC’s Friday Night Lights), and Michael K. Williams (HBO’s The Wire). Check both clips out above as well.
To switch things up, I have a red band clip for Let’s Be Cops. The comedy stars FOX’s New Girl’s Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans, Jr. so I’m personally excited to see what this has to offer. However, R-rated comedies are hard to come by (at least critically), so we’ll see how this one fares on August 13th. Luke Greenfield (The Girl Next Door) is the director by the way.
Ahead of Zach Braff’s (Garden State) limited release of Wish I Was Here are six clips touting the movie. Braff is joined by Kate Hudson (Almost Famous), Mandy Patinkin (Showtime’s Homeland), and more this weekend. I still haven’t seen Garden State but I understand there is quite a bit of hoopla around his Kickstarter-funded follow-up, so make sure to watch the clips!
Along with Wednesday’s photos, I found a short Instagram clip showing, you guessed it, part of the storm in Into the Storm. Steven Quale directs the disaster film that’ll star Richard Armitage (The Hobbit trilogy) and Sarah Wayne Callies (AMC’s The Walking Dead) on August 8th.
Lasse Hallstrom’s (The Cider House Rules) The Hundred-Foot Journey also unveiled two new clips. Helen Mirren (Psycho) headlines the movie – which also comes out August 8th by the way – that’ll tell the story of a French restaurant owner (Mirren) that makes things hard on a wannabe Indian restaurant. Watch the clips above.
What could be more exciting than a video game documentary? But seriously, it sounds pretty cool to me. Video Games: The Movie is the third one on today’s post that releases this weekend (also in limited theaters). It is directed by Jeremy Snead, who is making his directorial debut, and is narrated by Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings).
Have a great weekend everyone!
