Trailer Round-Up: Fifty Shades of Grey, Mad Max: Fury Road, and More
After a huge Comic-Con weekend, you can bet your butt this week has a lot to offer. However, even before the massive convention got underway, there were a lot of new trailers floating around. In fact, today’s post only features one thing coming out of Comic-Con (the first trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road). The rest of the post is chock-full of debuts (Fifty Shades of Grey, Hot Tub Time Machine 2, Nightcrawler, and Whiplash). It also has new trailers for The Imitation Game and Hector and the Search for Happiness.
Check out all the trailers below!
Fans of Fifty Shades of Grey can rejoice as the first official trailer finally released. The steamy adaptation is directed by Sam Taylor-Wood (Nowhere Boy) and stars Jamie Dornan (ABC’s Once Upon a Time) and Dakota Johnson (The Social Network). The controversy behind this film is just ramping up, so keep tabs on this drama-maker between now and its release on February 13, 2015.
The one and only Comic-Con first look comes for the Mad Max: Fury Road adaptation. George Miller’s next Mad Max adaptation will introduce stars Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, and Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: Days of Future Past). Like Fifty Shades of Grey, you won’t be able to see this one until 2015 as it releases on May 15, 2015. Check out the footage above.
The Benedict Cumberbatch-starring The Imitation Game pulled double duty this week with two separate trailers for its upcoming release. Morten Tyldum (Headhunters) historical drama also stars Keira Knightley and releases November 21st. Check out both trailers above.
Switching to a more light-hearted film, I’ve included the first red-band trailer for Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Steve Pink’s sequel returns Craig Robinson, Rob Corddry, Chevy Chase, and more, while adding Adam Scott (NBC’s Parks and Recreation) and Gillian Jacobs (NBC’s Community). Expect to see more of this film before it hits theaters December 25th.
Also with two trailers is the interesting looking Nightcrawler. This film is notable for showing a very different-looking Jake Gyllenhaal in Dan Gilroy’s directorial debut. The Toronto International Film Festival participant will hit theaters on October 17th. Below you’ll first find the teaser then the more traditional trailer.
Peter Chelsom’s (Shall We Dance?) rom-com Hector and the Search for Happiness showed off a U.S. trailer as well. This one stars The World’s End’s Simon Pegg and Rosamund Pike and could be one to check out come August 15th. Until then, hit up the trailer.
And finishing things out today is the Sundance hit Whiplash. As far as sleepers go, Damien Chazelle’s film could be one to keep on your list. Rising star Miles Teller (The Spectacular Now) and the crazy-acting J.K. Simmons (Spider-Man) star in the movie. Watch the newest trailer now and the movie October 10th.
