Poster Mania: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and More
Yesterday, I mentioned Comic-Con would be a big deal for this week’s posts. However, only yesterday’s Mad Mad: Fury Road trailer was actually from the Con. However, today’s Mad Max posters join The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, and Jurassic World with Comic-Con-related posters today. The only movies without something out of San Diego are Guardians of the Galaxy and Fury.
Check out the star-studded post in its entirety below!
I’m still waiting to see the footage from Comic-Con for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1; however, until then I’ll settle for the newest poster. It doesn’t exactly scream Hunger Games, but I like that it is a little unconventional. The stars are anything but unconventional as A-lister Jennifer Lawrence is rejoined by Woody Harrelson, the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth. Check out Francis Lawrence’s sequel starting November 21st.
At first, Marvel started releasing bits and pieces of the first look at The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Some started piecing together the clues before others (read: me) and realized it was going to be a collage poster. In all, the final product is above, showing off all the superheroes fighting their way (hopefully to victory). These Avengers are played by Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, and Jeremy Renner. For some, the most exciting part was seeing the newly-added Elizabeth Olsen (Oldboy) and Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Nowhere Boy). Check out Joss Whedon’s latest on May 1, 2015. (Source: MTV)
Much before The Avengers is Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. In fact, James Gunn’s (Super) first Galaxy film hits theaters this weekend on August 1st. It’ll most notably star Chris Pratt, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper, but the huge cast is even more impressive than that. I’m excited for the movie and you should be, too. If you’re going to a midnight IMAX showing you’ll receive the above poster, so that should get a few people in the seats. (Source: Twitter)
Back to Comic-Con, one of the biggest movie draws was undoubtedly for Peter Jackson’s next Hobbit film, officially titled The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, and more will come back to the third and final go-round for the epic fantasy. Check out the poster above before hitting up the movie December 12th in the U.S. (Source: Twitter)
I would consider the third Hobbit film just a hare more anticipated than Colin Trevorrow’s (Safety Not Guaranteed) Jurassic World. Chris Pratt will also be joining this franchise alongside Bryce Dallas Howard (Spider-Man 3) and Jake Johnson (Safety Not Guaranteed). Like The Avengers, you won’t be able to see this until next year on June 12, 2015. (Source: Twitter)
Our only gallery belongs to Mad Max: Fury Road (again, check out yesterday’s trailer). George Miller’s next Mad Max movie doesn’t come out until May 15, 2015, but I’m stoked we’re getting marketing already. It’ll star Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, Nicolas Hoult (X-Men: Days of Future Past), and Hugh Keays-Byrne (Mad Max) who can be seen in character posters below. I also included the Comic-Con exclusive poster. (Source: Twitter, IndieWire)
To round things out, I have a banner for Fury – David Ayer’s (End of Watch) next film. This one stars Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, and Michael Pena (End of Watch) and looks to be quite the war film when it blasts its way into theaters November 14th. Check out the full cast and their tank above. (Source: Comingsoon)
