Photo Mania: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, and More
Usually the Photo Mania posts have a bunch of upcoming movies. And while technically 2015 is upcoming, the majority of today’s featured movies are for next year. I blame Comic-Con for that. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Goosebumps, Mad Max: Fury Road, Jupiter Ascending, and Insidious: Chapter 3 are all slated to come out next year. The two movies coming out this year with new photos today are The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb.
Check out this week’s trailers and posters, too.
Perhaps the biggest thing coming out the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Comic-Con panel was the first official look at Wonder Woman (Fast and the Furious‘ Gal Gadot). Above you can check out the exciting look (I personally think she looks awesome). Batman v Superman is again directed by Zack Snyder and returns Henry Cavill while adding Ben Affleck as Batman. Coming off a new poster, I also have five new photos for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Peter Jackson’s third and final Hobbit installment returns Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, and just about everyone else when it storms into theaters December 17th. (Source: Collider)
Just like last week, I have new photos for Goosebumps (another huge Comic-Con film). I don’t quite know what to make of this adaptation but find myself loving Jack Black (who will be playing author R.L. Stine). He’s joined by Dylan Minnette (NBC’s Awake) and directed by Robert Letterman (Gulliver’s Travels). Check out Goosebumps on August 7, 2015. (Source: FirstShowing)
Mad Max: Fury Road (again directed by George Miller) completes the famed Film Equals trifecta with five new photos. Before today, they released a Comic-Con trailer and some posters (including character-specific ones). The next Mad Max adaptation won’t hit theaters until May 15, 2015, so you have plenty of time to get more on this movie. (Source: Comingsoon)
Although I haven’t had much to report on for Jupiter Ascending, I know the film also made an appearance in San Diego last week. Before that, they released two new looks at the movie. Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis are the biggest stars in The Wachowskis’ (Cloud Atlas) next film set to release February 6, 2015. (Source: Collider)
Three photos also released for Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb. I haven’t seen any of these movies (and I’m not sure I ever will), but I’m sure some people are excited for the third adaptation. Shawn Levy returns as director and the movie will feature Ben Stiller, Rebel Wilson (Bridesmaids), Robin Williams, Ben Kingsley, and Owen Wilson. Check out all three photos below and the movie on December 19, 2014. (Source: USA Today)
To balance out the genres a bit, I wanted to include a new photo from a horror film. The most notable one I found was for Insidious: Chapter 3. Leigh Whannell (the writer of the first two Insidious films) will take over the directing duties this time around. The third chapter looks a little more 70s (based on the picture) but will return to the screen on May 29, 2015. It stars Dermot Mulroney (August: Osage County) and Stefanie Scott (No Strings Attached). (Source: Moviefone)
