Clip Mania: Guardians of the Galaxy, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and More
Welcome to this Friday’s Clip Mania! All of today’s clips – two each for Guardians of the Galaxy and What If with one each for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Get On Up, Let’s Be Cops, Love is Strange, and Child of Mine – come out during the month of August. Therefore, for a quick primer on upcoming movies, check out all the clips below!
In order of release date, here are this week’s clips:
The wait is finally over. Today you can go see Guardians of the Galaxy and be complete as a human. Okay, maybe that’s a little dramatic, but I feel like James Gunn’s (Super) Marvel film has been on the horizon forever. It stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana (Avatar), Vin Diesel, and more. Check out the last two clips above before seeing the movie.
Also releasing this weekend is the musical biopic Get On Up. Chadwick Boseman (42) stars as the iconic James Brown in what looks like a very meaty role. The buck doesn’t stop there, either, as Octavia Spencer and Viola Davis reteam with The Help director Tate Taylor. Watch the clip before seeing the movie today.
I also included a clip for Child of God for those wanting to potentially see it when it releases this weekend. The James Franco-directed film stars him, Scott Haze (As I Lay Dying) and Tim Blake Nelson (Lincoln) and is adapted from a novel by Cormac McCarthy. Check out the clip now.
I also included the first clip I’ve seen for Jonathan Liebesman’s (Wrath of the Titans) quickly-approaching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The TMNT reboot brings in Megan Fox, Will Arnett, and William Fichtner (The Dark Knight). Watch the clip now and the full movie next weekend on August 8th.
Luke Greenfield (Role Models) is back at it with the buddy comedy Let’s Be Cops. Generally speaking, I’d be against a film like this, but Greenfield coupled with stars Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans, Jr. (both of FOX’s New Girl) has me cautiously optimistic. Check out a red-band clip before 20th Century Fox releases the movie starting August 13th.
I also included two new clips for What If (alternatively titled The F Word) for you. Like Let’s Be Cops, I’d probably be less excited for this movie if it weren’t for the cast (Daniel Radcliffe, Zoe Kazan, and Adam Driver). Before Michael Dowse’s (Goon) next comedy comes out (on August 22nd), check out the two clips.
Before today, I didn’t know a lot about Ira Sachs’ (Keep the Lights On) drama, Love is Strange. Now, thanks to the clip above, I know it stars John Lithgow (Showtime’s Dexter) and Alfred Molina (The Da Vinci Code) as a same-sex couple. I’d check out the clip above before seeing the movie starting August 22nd.
