Poster Mania: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, The Hateful Eight, and More
It isn’t often you see two movies by one director in the same year. However, this week’s Poster Mania features not one, but two movies from Shawn Levy. Besides Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb and This is Where I Leave You, I also found new posters for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, The Hateful Eight, Gone Girl, The Maze Runner, and Birdman.
Check those posters out and yesterday’s Trailer Round-Up (which featured new trailers for The Hobbit 3 and The Maze Runner).
With yesterday’s trailer came a new poster for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. The movie is directed by Peter Jackson again and returns Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, and Orlando Bloom. The “defining chapter” hits theaters December 17th. Check out Bilbo Baggins above. (Source: Collider)
Last week, it was announced that Quentin Tarantino’s (Django Unchained) next movie would be The Hateful Eight. A few days later, the above poster confirmed a 2015 playdate (without a specific date yet). We still don’t know a lot of details (like who may star in the movie) but it’s nice to see another piece of evidence that Tarantino is back at it. (Source: EW)
I also found a new poster for David Fincher’s (The Social Network) next film. Like The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (Fincher’s last movie), Fincher will be adapting a popular crime novel. This time around it will be Gone Girl, set to release on October 3rd, and I can personally vouch for the quality of the book. I am beyond excited to see what Fincher and stars Ben Affleck and Rosemund Pike (Die Another Day) have to offer. (Source: Shortlist)
Perhaps the most exciting posters this week belong to The Maze Runner adaptation. There are nine total posters (all in the gallery below). However, what is exciting about the posters is they think outside the box (no pun intended). Some of the posters are more straightforward, but the alternate posters are the ones worth checking out. The Maze Runner is directed by Wes Ball and stars Dylan O’Brien (High Road). Check out the gallery below and the movie come September 19th. (Source: FirstShowing)
Shawn Levy’s next Night at the Museum movie (titled Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb) also unveiled a new poster. The third iteration stars Ben Stiller, Rebel Wilson (Bridesmaids), and Robin Williams. Personally, I haven’t seen these movies yet, but I thought I’d still pass along the newest poster. Secret of the Tomb graces the screen starting December 19th. (Source: Comingsoon)
Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s (Biutiful) next film, Birdman, is probably getting lost in the shuffle because of all the big releases so far this year. However, the Michael Keaton-starring movie has quite the premise (it’s about an aging superhero actor struggling to find work on Broadway). Inarritu has had some dark work in the past, so I’m excited to see how he does with a dark comedy. Birdman comes out October 17th here in the U.S. and you can check out the newest poster above. Today’s second gallery finishes out this week’s Poster Mania. The five posters show off the movie This is Where I Leave You. Also of note is this is Shawn Levy’s second film featured today. However, this comedy-drama will release before Night at the Museum as it comes out September 19th. The cast, which you can see in the posters below, features Jason Bateman (Bad Words), Tina Fey, Adam Driver (HBO’s Girls), and more. (Source: IMP Awards)
