Poster Mania: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, and More
Welcome to another Tuesday at Film Equals. After yesterday’s trailers, today you can see the latest from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, The Boxtrolls, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, Two Night Stand, Son of a Gun, and The Guest.
Check out each poster along with some quick pieces of info for each movie below.
Even though there isn’t any mention of Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence), Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), or Gale (Liam Hemsworth), today’s biggest posters releases are for the much-anticipated The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1. The film showed off six new character posters that touted (the hopefully not spoiler-y) District 13. It also gives us another look at Julianne Moore’s (Don Jon) character who will make her debut on November 21st. The film is again directed by Francis Lawrence. Check out each poster in the gallery below. (Source: Variety)
Speaking of character posters, I have one for Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez’s sequel Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. The comic book-inspired movie has an impressive cast, I’ll give them that (the movie stars Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jessica Alba, and more), but I am still struggling to get behind the movie. Today’s character poster shows the return of Powers Boothe and you can see him and the rest of the gang come August 22nd. (Source: ComicBookMovie)
Another poster was sent over for Laika’s (the studio behind Coraline and ParaNorman) next film, The Boxtrolls. Some may not know that much about it, but I have it rated relatively high on my anticipation list. The stop-motion film is directed by Graham Annable and Anthony Stacchi with Elle Fanning (Super 8), Ben Kingsley, Simon Pegg (The World’s End), and more voice starring. Check this movie out September 26th.
We also were sent over before and after posters for the film Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Disney’s long-titled comedy stars Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner (Juno) in what looks like a decently funny film. Miguel Arteta (Cedar Rapids) is adapting the book to screen and the theatrical debut is set for October 10th.
Max Nichols’ upcoming rom-com, Two Night Stand, released a poster as well. It’ll tell the story of a one night stand gone awry after the couple gets snowed in. The premise alone doesn’t sound super exciting; however, Miles Teller (The Spectacular Now) is one of the biggest up-and-coming actors today. This movie may be worth checking out when it gets a release date. (Source: Collider)
I’ve also included a new poster for Son of a Gun, a film that stars Ewan McGregor (Beginners) and Brenton Thwaites (Maleficent). The Australian film is making waves now because it is about to release in Australia; however, there still isn’t a U.S. date set yet. Expect that to change for Julius Avery’s thriller soon. The final poster I have today is for Adam Wingard’s (You’re Next) The Guest. The film should hit theaters starting September 5th but before then you can check out the poster. The psychological thriller stars Dan Stevens (ITV’s Downton Abbey) and Maika Monroe (At Any Price). Check out the poster above! (Source: IMP Awards)
