Poster Mania: Dumb and Dumber To, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, and More
After yesterday’s trailers, I have six new films to champion, including Dumb and Dumber To, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Laggies, Whiplash, Before I Go To Sleep, and Reclaim. In fact, the only repeater from yesterday is Rudderless.
Be sure to scroll for each poster!
First and foremost, I have two parody posters for Dumb and Dumber To. The posters play up the brain capacity part that made the Scarlett Johansson-starring Lucy unique. I get why they decided to do it and I’m hoping this piece of marketing can outdo what I’ve seen so far in trailers. The Farrelly brothers will be back at it come November 14th. As you can tell by the posters, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels will be reprising their roles as well. (Source: Variety)
With under a week until its release, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For unveiled its final poster. Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez are back to direct the movie that’ll show Jessica Alba, Bruce Willis, and many more back in pseudo-comic book form. Check out the poster above and the movie starting this Friday, August 22nd. (Source: ScreenRant)
Next up is Lynn Shelton’s (Your Sister’s Sister) rom-com Laggies. The poster shows (part of) stars Keira Knightley, Chloe Grace Moretz, and Sam Rockwell (Seven Psychopaths). As a fan of Shelton’s work, I’m more excited for this one than I’d probably be if it was another director. We’ll see how the movie is on September 26th.
We were also sent the newest poster for the Sundance hit Whiplash. If you need a reason (or twenty) to see the movie, the poster is full of positive quotes. Damien Chazelle’s film (which stars Miles Teller and J.K. Simmons) comes out October 10th.
I’ve also attached a collage-type poster for Before I Go To Sleep. The mystery thriller debuts October 31st and is adapted by Rowan Joffe (Brighton Rock). Nicole Kidman (who starred in Rabbit Hole which had a similar poster), Colin Firth (The King’s Speech), and Mark Strong (Zero Dark Thirty) are all featured in the poster above. (Source: Comingsoon)
With yesterday’s trailer came a new poster for Rudderless, too. William H. Macy’s directorial debut stars him, Billy Crudup (Big Fish), Anton Yelchin (Star Trek Into Darkness), and Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix). This musical drama hits theaters October 17th.
Last up is Reclaim, the latest from Alan White (Risk) that stars John Cusack, Ryan Phillipe (Crash), and Jacki Weaver. This thriller comes out September 19th. You can check out the poster above even though it doesn’t give a lot about the film away. (Source: Comingsoon)
Make sure to stop in tomorrow for this week’s Photo Mania.
