Poster Mania: Camp X-Ray, White Bird in a Blizzard, and More
Welcome to another Tuesday edition of Poster Mania. Like yesterday’s Trailer Round-Up, today’s movies aren’t exactly the most anticipated movies of the year. However, what they lack in notoriety they make up for in potential. Some of today’s biggest up-and-comers are featured in the posters. If you’d like to see the latest from Camp X-Ray, White Bird in a Blizzard, Horns, The Theory of Everything, Trash, The Prince, and Jessabelle, scroll below.
I’ve included a little about each film, including stars, a director, and a release date, too.
First up is the first poster for Camp X-Ray. Before that, we got a trailer for the Guantanamo Bay-inspired indie drama. I’m not quite sure what to make of Peter Sattler’s film because it stars the divisive Kristen Stewart. Still, I think everyone should give this a shot come October 17 when it releases. Unlike Stewart, I am totally onboard with the attention coming to young actress Shailene Woodley. Not only has she had quite the year (she starred in Divergent and The Fault In Our Stars) but she’d proven herself worthy even before this year (I personally liked her in The Descendants). In her newest film, she’ll share the screen with Eva Green in the film adaptation of White Bird in a Blizzard. The film is directed by Gregg Araki (Kaboom) and releases October 24th. Check out the newest poster above as well as yesterday’s trailer.
I also found two posters for the upcoming film Horns starring Daniel Radcliffe and Juno Temple. Both these stars have been featured in recent movies (What If and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For respectively). You’ll be able to see them (and more) on October 31st when Alexandre Aja’s (Mirrors) fantasy thriller hits U.S. theaters. Before then, take a gander at the new posters above. (Source: Collider)
Marketing has run rampant for The Theory of Everything lately. The James Marsh (Man on Wire) production stars Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables) and Felicity Jones (Like Crazy) as Stephen Hawking and his wife Jane. I’m personally looking forward to this one the most out of today’s offerings, so it’s no surprise that I like the above poster the most. We’ll see how good the movie is come November 7th. Stephen Daldry’s (Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close) newest film Trash also released a poster. Given the color scheme, it doesn’t seem like an adventure thriller; however, it is being described that way some places. No matter which genre it belongs to, it stars Rooney Mara (Side Effects) and Martin Sheen (Apocalypse Now). Unfortunately, the poster above will have to do for now because Trash doesn’t have a U.S. playdate yet. (Source: Empire)
Adam Wingard’s (You’re Next) The Guest is next. I caught a trailer for the flick this weekend and was pretty intrigued on what the psychological thriller has to offer. It doesn’t have a cast that’ll wow you (it most notably stars ITV’s Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens) but the premise seems cool. When I saw the newest poster, I knew I had to share it. Check the movie out starting soon on September 5th. (Source: Collider)
Jessabelle’s newest poster will finish us out today. Continuing the horror/thriller theme, this one is directed by Kevin Greutert (Saw VI) and tells the story of yet another supernatural spirit. Sarah Snook (Not Suitable for Children) stars as Jessie in the movie that’ll hit theaters November 7th alongside The Theory of Everything. (Source: Yahoo)
