Poster Mania: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, The Maze Runner, and More
On the heels of yesterday’s new trailers, I have a few movies I will continue to hype with new posters. Both The Equalizer and The Devil’s Hand return in a crowded field that includes The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, The Maze Runner, Men, Women, and Children, Dear White People, and The Yes Men Are Revolting.
Each poster is below alongside information (like director, stars, and a release date) for each film.
During last week’s rebel poster debut, I commented on the fact that Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) was visibly missing. That was alleviated this week as she appears all by herself in the lone poster that was sent to us. Francis Lawrence will return as director with Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, and pretty much everyone else set to rejoin J-Law. Part 1 releases on November 21st for those that forgot.
From one YA film adaptation to another, I included five new character(ish) posters for The Maze Runner. Wes Ball will direct with lesser-knowns like Dylan O’Brien (High Road), Thomas Sangster (Love Actually), and Will Poulter (We’re the Millers) starring. Although I haven’t quite finished the novel, I was excited to see the new looks at the movie (which you can see below). The Maze Runner hits theaters September 19th. (Source: Comingsoon)
Like I mentioned in the intro, The Equalizer piggy-backed on yesterday’s trailer with a brand-new poster. Set to release a week after The Maze Runner on September 26th, this film adaptation is actually of an ’80s TV show. More importantly, it is another team-up between director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) and Denzel Washington. Check out the poster above. (Source: Comingsoon)
Most all posters this week could be considered “cool.” However, one of my personal favorites is the newest from Jason Reitman’s (Labor Day) relatively-unknown film Men, Women, and Children. If not “cool,” it definitely is one of the strangest of the bunch. For those that don’t know, Reitman’s latest stars Adam Sandler, Emma Thompson (Saving Mr. Banks), and Jennifer Garner (Juno). Check out the poster above and the full film starting October 3rd. (Source: First Showing)
Speaking of relatively-unknown, I didn’t know a lot about the rest of the movies, starting with Dear White People. Justin Simien’s satire stars Tyler James Williams (AMC’s The Walking Dead) and Dennis Haysbert (FOX’s 24) and is currently set to debut October 17th after hitting quite a few film festivals. I’ve attached a new poster above. (Source: Vulture)
Like The Equalizer, I doubled-up The Devil’s Hand with a new poster to go along with yesterday’s trailer. Christian Christiansen’s (The Roommate) latest horror-thriller, which should come out on October 10th, most notably stars Rufus Sewell (A Knight’s Tale). Go ahead and take a look at the poster above if you’re interested. (Source: IMP Awards)
Lastly, I wanted to shed some light on a film that I hadn’t even heard of until this past week. Above you can find a poster for a documentary called The Yes Men Are Revolting. I included it this week because the movie just played at the Toronto International Film Festival (it currently doesn’t have a theatrical date). Andy Bichlbaum, Mike Bananno, and Laura Nix are all credited in one way or another as directors and stars. We’ll hear more about this film as a whole later on. (Source: IndieWire)
