Photo Mania: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, Inherent Vice, and More
Welcome to another Photo Mania here at Film Equals. Today, like the past couple days (trailers and posters), has a healthy mix of movies this year and next. For instance, you’ll find new images for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, Inherent Vice, and Birdman (all of which are gearing up for release in the coming months) while also seeing new ones for 2015 movies, like Serena, Blackhat, Equals, and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon – The Green Destiny.
Enjoy all the pictures below!
A new set of pictures for the hotly-anticipated third Hunger Games film released earlier. Officially titled The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, it’ll (begin to) tell the conclusion of the popular book series by Suzanne Collins. The photos below show off some of the secondary characters so it’s a nice for hardcore fans to get a preview of what is to come. Francis Lawrence returns as director with Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, and more returning as the stars. Check the gallery out below and the movie on November 21st. I also found two new photos for Paul Thomas Anderson’s (There Will Be Blood) Inherent Vice. The comedy (which does seem a little weird given his filmography) stars Joaquin Phoenix, Benecio del Toro, and Reese Witherspoon. They’re all pictured above for the movie that releases on December 12th in the U.S. (Source: NY Times, LA Times)
Birdman, coming off a poster yesterday, released new photos as well. The comedy-drama stars Michael Keaton as a washed-out actor known for playing a superhero (not Batman, but “Birdman”). The movie also stars Emma Stone, Edward Norton, and plethora of other impressive actors. Alejandro Inarritu’s (Babel) next movie is out on October 17th already. (Source: IndieWire)
Along with The Hunger Games, I’ve got another Jennifer Lawrence film to champion today. Titled Serena, the period drama stars her and Silver Linings Playbook co-star Bradley Cooper. For some reason, this movie is having a tough time getting released (in fact, it was filmed before Silver Linings Playbook). That appears to be coming to an end, though, because Magnolia plans to release Susanne Bier’s (In a Better World) film on February 26, 2015. Check out the full gallery below. (Source: Collider)
Going along with its new trailer on Monday, I have a new crop of photos for Michael Mann’s (Heat) Blackhat. The spy-thriller stars Chris Hemsworth, most notably, but it also features Viola Davis (The Help). Check out the full gallery below before the movie releases on January 16, 2015. (Source: Collider)
The first look for the film Equals (wordplay!) also debuted online. The sci-fi romance (you don’t see those very often) stars Kristen Stewart, Guy Pearce (Iron-Man 3), and Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: Days of Future Past). Drake Doremus (Like Crazy) directs the pic that’ll hit theaters next year on an unspecified date. (Source: Variety)
Lastly, I’ve attached two new photos that were sent over for Netflix’s first movie. Before this, Netflix has had a successful run with original TV programming. I wouldn’t technically consider their first film “original” since it is a sequel titled Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon – The Green Destiny. It looks like Michelle Yeoh will reprise her role and the film is set to release on August 28, 2015 (both on Netflix and in select IMAX theaters). It’ll be directed by Woo-ping Yuen (True Legend). Check both photos out above.
