Trailer Round-Up: Tomorrowland, Focus, Merry Friggin’ Christmas, and More
Coming off the crowded weekend movie schedule, I’ve got a new crop of movie trailers for you. Below you’ll find a lot of new looks (or first looks) for upcoming movies (with the exception of Mockingbird which has technically released already). There are three movies featured today – Tomorrowland, Focus, and The Woman in Black: Angel of Death – that don’t release until next year. On the other hand, the others – Merry Friggin’ Christmas, Camp X-Ray, and Before I Go To Sleep – all release within a month.
Make sure to check them all out!
The first trailer for Brad Bird’s (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol) Disney film Tomorrowland toplines today’s post. The sci-fi fantasy pic stars names like George Clooney, Judy Greer (The Descendants), and even country star Tim McGraw. Expect to see a lot more from this film before it releases May 22, 2015.
I also included the first trailer for the rom-com Focus starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street). This one is co-directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa and is set to come out on February 27, 2015. Stay tuned this week to see more on this movie.
Perhaps Merry Friggin’ Christmas wouldn’t be as notable if Robin Williams hadn’t suddenly passed earlier this year. However, that is unfortunately the case. For those wanting to see one of his last roles, a new trailer has released. Tristram Shapeero’s upcoming comedy hits theaters November 7th of this year.
Although Peter Sattler’s film, Camp X-Ray, is considered an indie film, it stars the not-so-indie-actress Kristen Stewart. The Guantanamo Bay pic comes out already this weekend (in limited release) on October 17th. The rest of the cast is chalk-full of unknowns; however, the trailer (and premise) make it seem like it has some potential.
Next up is the newest trailer for the thriller Before I Go To Sleep. Rowan Joffe (Brighton Rock) directs Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth, and Mark Strong (Zero Dark Thirty) in this film adaptation. The psychological thriller revolves around a car accident that sends a woman’s (Kidman) life and mind into chaos. I definitely see potential for this movie and we’ll know more when it releases on October 31st.
Shifting back to next year, I also have the debut trailer for The Woman in Black: Angel of Death. Tom Harper (Peaky Blinders) is in charge of the follow-up that, unfortunately, doesn’t star Daniel Radcliffe. However, Angel of Death does star Jeremy Irvine (War Horse) and Helen McCrory (Skyfall) when it releases January 30, 2015. Check out the teaser above, and you can expect a full-length trailer in the coming months.
Our last trailer belongs to the horror film Mockingbird. Bryan Bertino’s (The Strangers) horror film already hit Video On Demand services (starting October 7th), so that explains why we got a new trailer. This found-footage type film does give us a little twist on the genre (even if I’m not generally a fan of found-footage films), so I’d check out the trailer to get a glimpse into the film. The movie stars Todd Stashwick (Along Came Polly) and youngsters Alyvia Alyn Lind (Blended) and Emily Alyn Lind (Enter the Void).
Stop back by tomorrow for new movie posters!
