Poster Mania: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, Big Hero 6, and More
Although I enjoyed yesterday’s Trailer Round-Up, I didn’t think it was very heavy on the end-of-the-year notables. Today’s Poster Mania will pick up the slack as they released a slew of posters for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and Big Hero 6. Then we’ll repeat Tomorrowland and move on to some surefire awards contenders like The Imitation Game, Birdman, and Wild. Lastly, I’ll attach the first poster for next year’s The Woman in Black: Angel of Death.
Check them all out below!
A crop of character posters released for the quickly-approaching finale to The Hobbit series. Peter Jackson’s third film, titled The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, releases on December 17th here in the States. As you can tell by the posters, it returns Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, Orlando Bloom, and many more. All eight character posters can be viewed in full below. (Source: /Film)
While promoting its movie at the New York Comic-Con, a batch of six artistic posters debuted for Big Hero 6. This Marvel/Disney collaboration looks to make waves on November 7th when it releases. By the looks of the posters, this movie as a lot of potential (on top of the fact that both Marvel and Disney are involved). Don Hall and Chris Miller co-directed this animated film that’ll voice star Ryan Potter (Nickelodeon’s Supah Ninjas), Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids), and T.J. Miller (Transformers: Age of Extinction). To go along with yesterday’s trailer, I have the debut poster for another Disney film – Tomorrowland (which also released as part of the New York Comic-Con). Brad Bird’s (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol) pic most notably stars George Clooney. Expect to see plenty more about this movie before it releases May 22, 2015. (Source: Comingsoon)
Next up is the second poster for The Imitation Game. This one shares a lot of similarities to the previous poster except it shows off the female lead, Keira Knightley. The Alan Turing biopic also stars Benedict Cumberbatch and is set to hit theaters November 21st. This sure-to-be awards contender is directed by Mortem Tyldum (Headhunters). (Source: Flickering Myth)
With its release this coming weekend (on October 17th), I have ten new minimalistic posters for Birdman as well. Directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (Babel), this movie tells the story of a washed-up superhero actor (Michael Keaton) that attempts to make a comeback. By the looks of all the marketing (and its cast that includes Emma Stone, Zach Galifianakis, and Edward Norton), this film could be quite the trip. I’m excited for it! Check out the cool posters above. (Source: IndieWire)
I think both The Imitation Game and Birdman will be major awards contenders come the end of the year. However, Jean-Marc Vallee’s (Dallas Buyers Club) Wild could be a sneaky pic as well. Part of why this film will probably get nominations involves the weak class of leading ladies; it looks like Reese Witherspoon turns in a great lead performance. All of this is conjecture right now because the movie doesn’t actually release until December 5th. Until then, check out the newest poster above. (Source: Facebook)
Also going along with yesterday’s new trailer is a new poster for next year’s horror sequel The Woman in Black: Angel of Death. The sequel brings in a new director (Peaky Blinders‘ Tom Harper) and stars (Helen McCrory and Jeremy Irvine) when it comes out January 30, 2015. Check out the poster above if you’re interested in the movie!
Come back tomorrow for the latest Photo Mania.
