Photo Mania: Interstellar, In the Heart of the Sea, Unbroken, and More
Hello everyone and welcome to today’s Photo Mania. Below you can find new stills for some upcoming movies this year (Interstellar, Unbroken, and Laggies) while also keeping an eye on the future. I’ve included photos for three movies next year (In the Heart of the Sea, The Diabolical, and Underdogs) while even including some concept art for Moana, a movie that won’t release until 2016. They’re all available below.
If you missed this week’s trailers and posters, you should head over there as well!
I found six new photos for the sci-fi flick Interstellar. Directed by Christopher Nolan (Inception) and starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, and Jessica Chastain, this Gravity-esque movie could turn out to be Nolan’s long-awaited arrival on the Oscar scene come next March. Until then, expect a last-second push of marketing between now and its release on November 7th. All six photos are below. (Source: The Film Stage)
Completing its “trifecta” this week is Ron Howard’s (Rush) In the Heart of the Sea. The survival epic stars Chris Hemsworth and Cillian Murphy but won’t hit theaters until March 15, 2015. If you want a still look at the movie, check out both photos above (or yesterday’s poster). If you’d like the first footage, check out the trailer. (Source: USA Today)
Unbroken also completed its trifecta this week by adding a gallery of new photos to its new trailer and poster. I have high hopes for this movie aside from the fact that Angelina Jole (In the Land of Blood and Honey) directed it. For one, Jack O’Connell (Starred Up) looks to have a rousing performance. For two, the movie seems to be a made-for-Hollywood true story. We’ll see how good it is come December 25th when it releases. (Source: Collider)
Laggies – Lynn Shelton’s (Your Sister’s Sister) latest drama – also unveiled a new gallery of photos. Unlike others featured today, Laggies is already coming out this weekend on October 24th. It stars Keira Knightley (who is predominately featured in the gallery), Chloe Grace Moretz, and Sam Rockwell. Check out the full gallery below. (Source: IndieWire)
I have something a little different for the upcoming Disney movie Moana. Today I’ve attached the first concept art that came with the announcement of the film. The animated musical will be directed by Ron Clements and John Musker. At this point we don’t have any talent attached to the movie but the mythological-themed movie will release sometime in late 2016.
From Disney to horror, I’ve got the first look at Ali Larter (Final Destination) in next year’s The Diabolical. Alistair Legrand’s directorial debut doesn’t sound all that original but sometimes originality isn’t why people go to the movies. Check out the photo above and keep your ears peeled for an official release date in 2015. (Source: JoBlo)
Finishing us off today is yet another animated film. Titled Underdogs, this one tells the story of the best “sport” ever: foosball. The Spanish film saw enough success to warrant it coming to the U.S. The Weinstein Company has enlisted the help of Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: Days of Future Past), Katie Holmes, and even singer Ariana Grande to voice the U.S. version. U.S. audiences can expect to see Juan Jose Campanella’s (Son of the Bride) pic April 10, 2015. (Source: Collider)
