News Round-Up: Henry Cavill Cast in ‘Stratton’; ‘Hail Caesar!’ Release Date; and More
Hello everyone, welcome to today’s News Round-Up. Below you can find some casting, a release date, and some other misc. news. More specifically, I’ll have different pieces of news to report on for Stratton, The Trap, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Hail, Caesar!, an untitled female football film, The Neon Demon, and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Read on to find out all the information!
First up today is news about Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) starring in something outside the DC universe. His name has been thrown around quite a bit lately with all the DC releases, but it appears Cavill will be in Stratton. It’s also worth noting that Cavill’s newly formed production company will host the picture. Not too much else is known at this time, though, so keep your ears peeled for a director and release date. Jamie Foxx also added to his filmography with plans to star in Harmony Korine’s (Spring Breakers) The Trap. This movie is reportedly a revenge gangster ensemble and it’s also going to star Benecio del Toro. As of now, there isn’t a release date but I’d guess we’ll see it in 2016 if it doesn’t shoot until early next year. (Source: Variety)
Although it may not technically be considered “casting,” it was confirmed that there’d be some familiar faces in next year’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. Both Idris Elba (who plays Heimdall) and Tom Hiddleston (who plays Loki) will have cameos come May 1, 2015. Joss Whedon’s sequel returns Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, and more as stars. The lone release date I have for you is for the Coen Brothers’ (True Grit) next film, Hail, Caesar! With a brimming cast that includes George Clooney, Josh Brolin, Scarlett Johansson, Jonah Hill, and Channing Tatum (to name just a few), this seems like a must-watch. The movie is going to release on February 5, 2016 which really seems like an odd time for a Coen Brothers movie. We’ll see if that changes, but for now circle that date. (Source: /Film)
The first new project of the day involves director/producer (we’re not quite sure what his role will be here) Judd Apatow and star Laura Dern. The project is still untitled; however, we know it’ll revolve around a cast of football-obsessed women. It sounds like it has potential, so I’ll keep my eyes on the project as it gets further along. The next new project has Nicolas Winding Refn’s (Drive) name attached. The promising young director will helm the horror film The Neon Demon. With a production date early next year, I’d expect this one to come out in 2016 as well. I’ll let you know about stars and a release date as we find out more. (Source: Comingsoon)
Although I teased a DC property earlier, it seems impossible to get through a complete post without mentioning Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. This week’s news involves composer Hans Zimmer who will reprise his role (if you will) as composer in the newest Batman film (starring the aforementioned Cavill and Ben Affleck). Zimmer will collaborate with Junkie XL in Zack Snyder’s sequel that releases March 25, 2016. (Source: IGN)
