Clip Mania: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, Interstellar, and More
Happy Friday! Today’s post balances some of the bigger movies (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and Interstellar) with a few comedies (Dumb and Dumber To, Horrible Bosses 2, and Top Five) before heading to some more lesser-known projects (Hardcore and V/H/S: Viral)
Any day with new Hunger Games stuff is a good day, right? If that’s the case, today is a good day! Above is the new clip for the third film, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire – Part 1. I’m curious to see if this movie continues on the path the first two movies have paved. Look for Francis Lawrence’s sequel (which will again star Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson) November 21st.
Out today (thank God!) is Christopher Nolan’s ninth feature (check out all the coverage here), Interstellar. Before going to see the sci-fi epic, check out a clip above. The movie stars some new faces in the Nolan-verse (like Matthew McConaughey and Jessica Chastain) but does again bring back Anne Hathaway and Michael Caine. If you don’t want to see the clip and just the movie, go see it in traditional or IMAX theaters now.
Next up are a bunch of new clips for the comedy sequel Dumb and Dumber To. I’m hoping this movie isn’t a flop (or a cash-grab) but the clips don’t exactly calm my nerves. It’s nice to see Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey back to their usual hijinkes; however, I’m still not convinced. Check the clips out above if you want to weigh in. The Farrelly Brothers’ sequel releases next weekend on November 14th.
Just like on Wednesday, with Dumb and Dumber To stuff, I’ve got some Horrible Bosses 2 stuff. Instead of photos, I’ve got two new clips above for the upcoming sequel. Releasing on November 26th, the Sean Anders (That’s My Boy) film returns Jason Sudeikis, Jason Bateman, and Charlie Day as the murderous threesome. Check out the clips above!
Speaking of comedies, I have a new clip for the Chris Rock-directed (he also stars in it) movie Top Five. For those that don’t know, the movie will feature Rock playing a comedic actor that wants desperately to be known for his dramatic side. I’m not exactly sure how this one will translate to the big screen but you can get a feel for the film above. Top Five comes out December 12th.
In my opinion, the most interesting clip of the week belongs to Hardcore. Hardcore is an interesting movie because it’s shot completely through a first-person point-of-view. At times, the movie does look a bit like a video game but I could see this gimmick working out well. Ilya Naishuller is credited as director with Sharlto Copley (Elysium) headlining the film. As of now, it is looking for crowdfunding, so there isn’t a release date yet. However, there is a clip above to get people interested!
I’ll finish today off with a little bit of horror for those enthusiasts. Above you can find an extended clip for the movie V/H/S: Viral. This is technically the third V/H/S film and I’d actually suggest watching the first two anthologies. Viral may be full of unknown directors (there are four total credited) and actors but it promises to be quite the ride. Watch the clip above before the movie releases November 21st theatrically (it’s already available On Demand, too).
Come back after the weekend!
