Photo Mania: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, Foxcatcher, and More
I hope you enjoyed your day off yesterday! In today’s Photo Mania, we’ll be back at it with a new crop of films. There are, however, three movies – The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, Chappie and Selma – that are back with new photos after new trailers and posters. Besides those, you can find new photos for Foxcatcher as well as first looks for next year’s Z for Zachariah, Man Down, and Michael.
Check all the photos out below!
I’ll start us out today with a new set of photos for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. The eight new photos are below and feature just about all of the noteworthy returners in Peter Jackson’s final Hobbit film. These actors include Ian McKellen, Orlando Bloom, Luke Evans, and Cate Blanchett. Go ahead and check out the photos below before the movie debuts on December 12th. (Source: IndieWire)
Next up are ten new photos for Bennett Miller’s (Moneyball) dark drama Foxcatcher. I can’t even begin to explain my excitement over this movie (which stars Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, and Mark Ruffalo). By the looks of it (and the photos again show it), Carell looks to have a powerful performance in the psychological sports film. Foxcatcher releases in limited theaters this weekend starting November 14th. (Source: IndieWire)
Neill Blomkamp’s (Elysium) sci-fi film came out with the first stills for its movie. Set to release next year (on March 6, 2015), the movie will once again star Sharlto Copley (who is in both of Blomkamp’s movies) while adding Hugh Jackman. Check out all the photos below, and if you’re interested you can watch the first trailer or check out the first poster. (Source: NY Daily News)
Just like Chappie, I’ve attached some photos along with Monday’s trailer and yesterday’s poster for Selma. Selma stars David Oyelowo (Lincoln), Oprah Winfrey, and Cuba Gooding, Jr. Ava DuVernay’s (Middle of Nowhere) historical drama, which chronicles the Selma voting rights marches, releases December 25th for a qualifying run. We also got a first look at Z for Zachariah sent over to use earlier this week. I’ll be honest: I didn’t know a lot about this movie beforehand. However I do know Craig Zobel’s (Compliance) film adaptation stars Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street), Chris Pine, and Chiewetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave). As of now, these photos are all we’ve got as a specific 2015 release date is still pending.
Speaking of first looks, above is the debut photo for the film Man Down featuring Shia LaBeouf. The post-apocalyptic war thriller also stars Kate Mara (Shooter), Gary Oldman, and Jai Courtney (Divergent). Dito Montiel’s (Empire State) latest doesn’t release until October 30, 2015. Last up is Justin Kelly’s Michael. Kelly directs James Franco and Zachary Quinto (Star Trek Into Darkness) as a gay activist and his former boyfriend. Apparently, the story will follow Michael Glatze’s life which saw him go from the gay founder of Young Gay America to a Christian pastor. The drama certainly sounds interesting but we’ll have to wait until next year to see the film. As of now, there is no set release date. (Source: THR)
