Trailer Round-Up: Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Jurassic World, and More
After a break over the long weekend, today we’re back at it with the freshest new movie trailers. And boy is today’s a doozy. We’ll start with debut trailers for the hotly-anticipated releases of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Jurassic World. Then we’ll briefly come back to this year with a new trailer for Exodus: Gods and Kings before going back to 2015 with new trailers for Pan and Jupiter Ascending. To finish things off, the Franco brothers will each be featured in the trailers for The Interview and Unfinished Business, both of which are comedies.
Scroll to find each trailer and a little bit about each movie.
It says a lot about a movie’s popularity when people are lining up just to see a trailer. That was the case with J.J. Abrams’ (Super 8) Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The seventh Star Wars iteration has a certain set of expectations (fair or not) which inherently make anything about the movie divisive. We’ll ultimately have to wait until December 18, 2015 to see whether the film starring John Boyega (Attack the Block), Adam Driver (HBO’s Girls), and Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis) lives up to the hype. Check out the first trailer above to get yourself excited (or nostalgic).
Speaking of nostalgia, the first trailer for Jurassic World released online this past week, too. The fourth film in the franchise will go with a new director (Safety Not Guaranteed’s Colin Trevorrow) and stars (Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard). By the looks of the trailer, we’ll be seeing a fully-functional Jurassic Theme Park (wouldn’t that be awesome!?) at the beginning of the story. We’ll likely see this deteriorate but it is nice to see the idea come to life (if you will). Jurassic World releases on June 12, 2015, so check out the full-length trailer above.
The epic new trailer for Exodus: Gods and Kings released on Thanksgiving Day to remind us of what is to still come this year. December sees a lot of new releases and Exodus: Gods and Kings could easily top a bunch of lists. The biblical epic stars Christian Bale and Joel Edgerton (Zero Dark Thirty) as Moses and Ramesses II. The movie also stars Aaron Paul (Need for Speed), Ben Kingsley, and Sigourney Weaver. Look for the movie starting December 12th.
Joe Wright’s (Anna Karenina) Pan adaptation also released its first trailer. The fantasy film won’t bow until July 17, 2015 but it’s got people excited (for good reason). For starters, it’s got a cast that includes names like Hugh Jackman, Rooney Mara, and Amanda Seyfried (Les Miserables). Check the trailer out above!
Initially slated to release this year, the Wachowskis’ Jupiter Ascending was inexplicably moved back to 2015. Armed with a February 6, 2015 release date, the movie is seemingly right around the corner now. Check out the latest international trailer (starring stars Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis) in anticipation for its release.
Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen’s (This is the End) latest comedy, The Interview, unveiled its final trailer this past week as well. For those that don’t know, the plot focuses on a news duo (Seth Rogen and James Franco) that are sent on a mission to assassinate Kim Jong-un. The movie looks pretty funny and we’ll see for sure on December 25th. Watch the trailer above if the movie sounds funny to you.
Lastly, I’ve attached both a green- and red-band trailer for Unfinished Business. Ken Scott’s (Starbuck) comedy stars Vince Vaughn, Dave Franco, and Tom Wilkinson (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind). The movie will apparently focuses on a wild business trip to Europe. I won’t ruin all the plot points, so watch the trailers above. Unfinished Business releases on March 6, 2015.
Check back tomorrow for the latest movie posters!
