Photo Mania: Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, and More
Wow-e what a week of new movie photos! The Star War: The Force Awakens era is finally upon us. In today’s post, I’ll not only give you some official stills from that movie but I’ll follow it up with new photos for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, Jurassic World, Unbroken, Jupiter Ascending, Southpaw, and Wild Card. At the very least, there are three movies you’ve heard of.
Make sure to also check out this week’s trailers and posters, too.
To go along with the first trailer, four hi-res stills released for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The seventh film in the franchise will be directed by J.J. Abrams (Super 8) and star Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis), Adam Driver (HBO’s Girls), and John Boyega (Attack the Block). Boyega has been the target of some unfounded criticism since the trailer released due to the revelation that they’ll be a black storm trooper. To see him (and what the new lightsabers look like), check out the photos below. The Force Awakens debuts on December 18, 2015. (Source: Collider)
Speaking of December blockbusters, I also have some new photos for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. With a quickly approaching release date of December 17th, this is probably our last good look at Peter Jackson’s third and final Hobbit movie. For those that forgot, the movie again stars Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Orlando Bloom, and Cate Blanchett. (Source: Comingsoon)
Just like with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the world was treated with a trailer for Jurassic World recently. The full-length trailer gave us a lot of clues (and, yes, CGI) into the plot of next year’s long-awaited film. If you’d like to see some of the new technology, the pictures below are for you! Colin Trevorrow’s (Safety Not Guaranteed) dino pic debuts July 12, 2015 and stars Chris Pratt. (Source: Daily Mail)
With initial press screenings for Angelina Jolie’s (In the Land of Blood and Honey) Unbroken, a new batch of photos released. The World War II drama stars Jack O’Connell (Starred Up), Domhnall Gleeson (who will also be in Star Wars: The Force Awakens), and Jai Courtney (Divergent). Even before the warm critical reception, I was looking forward to seeing this movie on December 25th. Now we have even more of a reason! Check out the ten newest photos below. (Source: Collider)
Jupiter Ascending also debuted some new photos to go along with its latest trailer. Once considered one of the biggest summer blockbusters, the movie seemingly took itself out of competition and moved back to February 6, 2015. Now that we’re just a few months out, it’s about time to start thinking about this movie again. It stars Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis and is led by The Wachowskis (The Matrix). I’ve also got the first look at Jake Gyllenhaal as a boxer in Southpaw. After losing a bunch of weight for Nightcrawler, it’s pretty shocking to see him go the opposite direction. Antoine Fuqua’s (The Equalizer) latest film doesn’t have a release date yet; however, we do know it’ll also star Rachel McAdams (The Notebook) and Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland). Expect to hear more from this film in the coming months. (Source: IndieWire)
Today’s final photo is the first look at Lionsgate’s Wild Card. Simon West’s (Con Air) crime drama most notably stars Jason Statham. However, Sofia Vergara (Chef) and Stanley Tucci are also involved in the project that’ll release on January 30, 2015. Check out the first photo that was sent over above.
