Photo Mania: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, Insurgent, and More
Happy Wednesday! For those that don’t know, Wednesdays are reserved for all the latest and greatest new movie photos. In today’s post, I’ll again attach some pictures to the upcoming movies The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and Inherent Vice. As for next years’ films, you can find photo(s) for Insurgent, San Andreas, and the Sundance films Mistress America, D-Train, and Diary of a Teenage Girl.
All of the photos are below and I’d also suggest heading over to yesterday’s posters and Monday’s trailers! Enjoy…
Just like last week, I’ve got some new photos for the upcoming release of Peter Jackson’s Hobbit finale. Titled The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, this one tells the thrilling conclusion of one of my favorite books. I’m excited to watch the film (which again stars Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, and Cate Blanchett) in a week starting December 17th. Check out the last gallery below. (Source: Collider)
Speaking of film adaptations, I’ve got the first photo for Insurgent starring Shailene Woodley and Theo James. The two are back at it in Robert Schwentke’s (R.I.P.D.) follow-up to this year’s Divergent. I haven’t read the second book but based on the box office results for the first film, I can see this being a winner come March 20, 2015 when it debuts. Look for a trailer soon! (Source: Twitter)
Out already this weekend (and a carry-over from yesterday’s Poster Mania) is Paul Thomas Anderson’s Inherent Vice. His adaptation of Thomas Pynchon’s novel stars Joaquin Phoenix (The Master), Josh Brolin, and Owen Wilson. Phoenix is most prevalent in the latest batch of photos (seen in full below) but you can also see some of the other supporting characters. Inherent Vice debuts in limited release this weekend starting December 12th. (Source: IndieWire)
I also have the first two photos for next year’s release of San Andreas. The action-thriller most notably stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (and he’s in both pictures, of course). Brad Petyon (Journey 2: The Mysterious Island) directed the pic that is set to release on May 29, 2015. Check out the photos before we inevitably get a trailer. (Source: USA Today)
The next three featured movies are all playing at next month’s Sundance Film Festival (so we we won’t have set theatrical release dates yet). Since they just released the full slate of films, we’re starting to get some of the first photos. Noah Baumbach’s (The Squid and the Whale) Mistress America is one of those photos. Its first look is above and most notably stars Greta Gerwig (Frances Ha). Check it out! (Source: IndieWire)
Next up is D-Train starring Jack Black and James Marsden (X-Men). Directed by Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul, the comedy centers around a high school reunion. It’ll also play at next month’s Sundance but you can get your first look at the film above. Keep your ears peeled for a release date. (Source: USA Today)
Lastly, I’ve got another Sundance film, Diary of a Teenage Girl. This film adaptation is directed by Marielle Heller (her directorial debut) and stars Alexander Skarsgard (HBO’s True Blood) and Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids). Unlike D-Train, this one isn’t a comedy since it involves a teenager having an affair with her mother’s boyfriend. Check out the first photo of the period drama and, like the others, wait for an official release date. (Source: USA Today)
