Trailer Round-Up: Avengers: Age of Ultron, Get Hard, Spy, and More
Happy Martin Luther King Day! Hopefully you’re getting a break from your hard work and spending time with friends and family. If you’ve got a bit of extra time, below are the latest movie trailers from the last week. You’ll see the newest Avengers: Age of Ultron one along with comedies Get Hard and Spy. Then I’ll shift gears and show you a trailer for the sci-fi movie Chappie and finish it off in the dramas Effie Gray, Anarchy, and Clouds of Sils Maria.
Check them all out below!
Any day with a new Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer is a good day, right? I’d say so and that makes this week special as a new trailer did pop up for the ensemble superhero follow-up by Joss Whedon. It stars all the usual suspects (Robert Downey, Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, and more) while adding James Spader as Ultron. Age of Ultron officially releases on May 1st.
Next up is another trailer for Get Hard starring Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart. The trailer plays up the promising premise involving a businessman (Ferrell) gearing up to hit prison. On the surface it seems a little racist but maybe that’s addressed during the full movie? We’ll see on March 27th when Etan Cohen’s directorial debut lands in theaters.
Paul Feig’s (Bridesmaids) latest – the action-comedy Spy – released a trailer as well. Those of you who follow the site know that this followed up last week’s new photos (and you can bet you’ll see this movie again on tomorrow’s Poster Mania). For those of you who don’t know, Spy teams up Feig and Melissa McCarthy but also features names like Jason Statham and Jude Law. Check out the trailer below and the full movie on May 22nd.
An international trailer for Chappie is attached above, too. The latest isn’t a huge departure from what we’ve already seen but does give us a bit more plot details. I’m a fan of director Neill Blomkamp (District 9) and see this fitting right into his filmography. Chappie stars Hugh Jackman, Sigourney Weaver, and Dev Patel (HBO’s The Newsroom) and comes out March 6th in the U.S.
Going along with last week’s Effie Gray poster is a new trailer. Effie Gray is written by and stars Emma Thompson but primarily focuses on Dakota Fanning (Super 8) as the title character. Based on the trailer, I’m not quite sure if this is my kind of movie but I may give it a shot when it releases on April 3rd. The biographical drama is directed by Richard Laxton (Grow Your Own).
Michael Almereyda’s (Hamlet) crime tragedy Anarchy released a new trailer (with a revamped name since the movie was formerly titled Cymberline). Anarchy (and its trailer) stars Ethan Hawke and Ed Harris in a story that mirrors William Shakespeare’s play. It sounds interesting and will be on my list come March 13th when it releases.
Last, but not least, is the newest trailer for Clouds of Sils Maria. This movie has felt like its been on cusp of release forever since it debuted at last year’s Sundance Film Festival. Olivier Assayas (Something in the Air) directed the movie that stars Juliette Binoche, Kristen Stewart, and Chloe Grace Moretz. Clouds of Sils Maria will finally see the light of day on April 10th, but you can watch the newest trailer above now.
Thanks for stopping by. Come back tomorrow for the latest posters.
