Poster Mania: Hot Tub Time Machine 2, Spy, Last Days in the Desert, and More
In today’s Poster Mania, we come off the long weekend with a new slate of movie posters. These posts seem to be up and down when it comes to how anticipated the movies are. On the surface, today’s post isn’t exactly full of well-known films. However, that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to see. In fact, you can see promising new posters for movies like Hot Tub Time Machine 2, Spy, Last Days in the Desert, Kidnapping Mr. Heineken, The Gunman, The DUFF, and A Girl Like Her.
Give them each a shot below. Oh, and if you missed yesterday’s Trailer Round-Up, click over there as well.
Up first is the poster for the sequel Hot Tub Time Machine 2. I haven’t seen the first one but the general consensus was that the film was surprisingly good. In that case, hopefully round two can be just as successful. Based on the poster, I can see how people would want to go back to the theaters on February 20th. Steve Pink’s sequel again stars Craig Robinson and Rob Corddry while adding Adam Scott (NBC’s Parks and Recreation). Check out the poster above. (Source: Comingsoon)
To go along with last week’s photos and yesterday’s trailer, I have the debut poster for Paul Feig’s (Bridesmaids) next comedy Spy. The movie reteams Feig and fellow Bridesmaids stars Melissa McCarthy and Rose Byrne but also adds in names like Jason Statham (no stranger to spy movies) and Jude Law. The poster is above and the movie debuts on May 22nd. (Source: Yahoo)
We then can switch from the comedies to a much more dramatic film, Last Days in the Desert. Rodrigo Garcia’s (Albert Nobbs) Biblical film stars Ewan McGregor and Tye Sheridan (Mud) in what looks like an interesting movie. Besides playing at the upcoming Sundance Film Festival, there is no U.S. date set for this one yet. The poster above will have to do for now. (Source: IMDb)
Next up is a movie I didn’t know a lot about coming into this week. Daniel Alfredson’s (The Girl Who Played with Fire) crime drama Kidnapping Mr. Heineken released a new poster. The real-life movie stars Anthony Hopkins, Sam Worthington (Avatar), and Jim Sturgess (21). It’ll tell the story of the largest ransom ever paid and sounds like a fascinating story. The new poster is above for you and the movie is set to come out on March 6th. (Source: IGN)
Pierre Morel’s (Taken) latest crime-thriller, The Gunman, released a poster as well. Although I don’t know if I’ll be lining up to see this movie, it helps that its cast includes names like Sean Penn, Idris Elba (Pacific Rim), and Javier Bardem. Based on Jean-Patrick Machette’s novel, this upcoming movie comes out on March 20th. (Source: Fandango)
Our only gallery comes by the way of The DUFF (which stands for The “Designated, Ugly, Fat Friend”). Ari Sandel’s comedy stars some lesser-known actors but also includes Ken Jeong, who seems to be everywhere. The character posters show you the people he’s surrounded by in the movie set to release in a month on February 20th. Check out the full gallery below. (Source: Comingsoon)
I’ll finish us off with another drama and the newest poster for Amy S. Weber’s (Annabelle & Bear) movie A Girl Like Her. Again, I’m not in-the-know about this movie but it does look like it features some pretty heavy material (focusing on a 16-year-old and her attempted suicide). A Girl Like Her stars Lexi Ainsworth (Wild Child) and Hunter King (A.I. Artificial Intelligence) and is set to on March 27th. You can see the poster above. (Source: IMDb)
