Photo Mania: Now You See Me 2, Strange Magic, Song One, and More
Happy Wednesday! In today’s normal Wednesday Photo Mania, I’ve got an array of films ranging from the sequel Now You See Me: The Second Act to the relatively-unknown horror film What We Become. In between, I’ll have galleries of new photos for Strange Magic, Song One, Queen of the Desert, and Project Almanac as well as the first look at Colonia.
If photos aren’t enough, there’s new trailers from Monday and new posters from yesterday to check out as well! Enjoy!
Although it isn’t an official movie photo, I did want to pass along the first look at the cast for Now You See Me: The Second Act. The sequel to the 2013 caper thriller again stars Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Mark Ruffalo, and more. But as the picture shows, the impressive cast is growing as Daniel Radcliffe and Lizzy Caplan (The Interview) have joined in on the fun. Also, the picture is notable to some eagle-eyed folks out there who noticed Eisenberg’s close cut coming off filming of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Keep your eyes out for more on Jon Chu’s (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) latest between now and its June 10, 2016 release date. (Source: MovieWeb)
With its release this coming weekend, the animated film Strange Magic released ten new photos (which are below) for you. The Disney distributed movie voice stars Alan Cumming (X2), Evan Rachel Wood (The Ides of March), and Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids). As far as the pictures go, I’m impressed by the animation because it at least looks unique. I’m not sure how the story will play out but we’ll find out soon since Gary Rydstrom’s (Hawaiian Vacation) latest comes out on January 23rd. (Source: Stitch Kingdom)
The Sundance pic Song One also released some new photos. For those that don’t know, the musically-themed film stars Anne Hathaway and musician Johnny Flynn. Kate Barker-Froyland’s love story is still relatively unknown but should get a wider theatrical release after it plays in Park City this weekend. (Source: IndieWire)
A first look at Florian Gallenberger’s (John Rabe) next film, Colonia, surfaced online this past week. You don’t have to know a lot about this movie to garner at least a little excitement since Daniel Bruhl (Rush) and Emma Watson star in the thriller. As of now, there isn’t a U.S. release date. The next gallery is for Werner Herzog’s (Rescue Dawn) latest film Queen of the Desert. The biographical epic stars Nicole Kidman, James Franco, and Robert Pattinson and will tell the story of writer/explorer Gertrude Bell (played by Kidman). You can add this biopic to the ever-growing list of such movies. Check out the gallery of new photos below before the movie debuts later this year on an unspecified date. (Source: IndieWire)
The found-footage film Project Almanac (directed by Dean Israelite) is next up. You can check out four new photos for the film that stars Jonny Weston (John Dies at the End) and Sofia Black D’Elia (Born of War). With a Butterfly Effect-like premise, this could turn out to be interesting if handled right. We can judge for good on January 30th when the Michael Bay-produced movie hits theaters. (Source: Bustle)
It seems to happen this way a lot but today’s final movie is a horror thriller. Titled What We Become, the movie is about a vicious flu strand that leaves a family of four quarantined. This one is directed by Bo Mikkelsen (his full-length feature debut) and stars Mille Dinesen (Clash of Egos). A new photo is above if it sounds interesting to you! So far there isn’t a U.S. playdate to go along with the Danish one. (Source: JoBlo)
