Poster Mania: Insurgent, Child 44, Focus, and More
Happy Poster Mania Day! Today’s edition features one bigger blockbuster-type film, Insurgent (unlike yesterday’s Trailer Round-Up) while sprinkling in some other movies I’m personally excited about – Child 44 and Serena. To go along with those three, there are two posters for Focus, a poster for two of repeaters from yesterday (All the Wilderness and The Rewrite), and a poster for Welcome to Leith.
Enjoy all the posters below!
Today’s only gallery comes by the way of Insurgent – the sequel to last year’s YA adaptation of Divergent. Robert Schwentke’s (Flightplan) film brings back some of the major players, like Shailene Woodley, Theo James, and Kate Winslet, while adding big names like Octavia Spencer and Naomi Watts. Insurgent releases on March 20th and the five posters are below. If you’d like to check out the motion posters, follow the source. (Source: LA Times)
Next up is the film Child 44 and its poster touting the period thriller. This may not be high on people’s lists in terms of anticipation but with a cast that includes Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty), Noomi Rapace (Prometheus), and Joel Kinnaman (AMC’s The Killing), I think you should have this one on your radar. The poster is above and you can see Daniel Espinosa’s (Safe House) latest on April 17th. (Source: HitFix)
There are also two new posters for the rom-con (romantic con) film Focus. The first poster shows a very close shot of headliners Will Smith and Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) to obviously show off their romance. However, those two aren’t the only ones involved in the movie, hence the second poster featuring Rodrigo Santoro (300). Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (I Love You Phillip Morris) directed the movie that is set for a February 27th release. (Source: Flickering Myth)
Given their track record, it seems like we should be excited anytime we get a movie that teams up Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. Distributors didn’t exactly agree with this concept and Susanne Bier’s (In a Better World) Serena has been floating around for awhile. However, that’s going to change next month when the drama releases on February 26th. To get excited about it, a new poster landed online and is available above. (Source: IndieWire)
To go along with yesterday’s trailer, I’ve got a poster for the film All the Wilderness. Michael Johnson’s directorial debut stars Danny DeVito and Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Road) and should release on February 20th. Check out the poster above!
Like All the Wilderness, the rom-com The Rewrite is returning today with a poster after a new trailer yesterday. Marc Lawrence (Two Weeks Notice) directed Hugh Grant, J.K. Simmons (Whiplash), and more in the movie that’s still awaiting a U.S. playdate. The poster doesn’t have to wait, though, and is above. (Source: IMDb)
With the Sundance Film Festival in full swing, it makes sense Welcome to Leith would finish us off. The film seems terrifying; although, it also has a bit of an interesting appeal. The horror documentary focuses on a man that tried to buy up land and start a white supremacist organization. There’s no U.S. date yet but Michael Beach Nichols and Christopher K. Walker’s film did release the above poster. (Source: IndieWire)
