Trailer Round-Up: The Fantastic Four, Ted 2, Terminator: Genisys, and More
If you’re like me, today is a day of recovery given all the unhealthy food consumed over the past 24 hours. With yesterday’s Super Bowl came plenty of new trailers. Not only were there new TV spots for Terminator: Genisys and Kingsman: The Secret Service but we also got a full-length trailer for Insurgent. Besides those three, last week gave us the first trailers for The Fantastic Four, Ted 2, Child 44, and Madam Bovary.
Each video is below!
The first trailer for The Fantastic Four is finally upon us! Many people – myself included – were wondering when we’d finally get any sort of marketing for Josh Trank’s (Chronicle) superhero film. It wouldn’t be that strange to wait; however, its August 7th release date and its blockbuster-like status had people wondering. That wonderment is over as the first trailer arrived last week and is included above. For those that didn’t know, Miles Teller (Whiplash), Kate Mara (Shooter), Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station), and Jamie Bell (Snowpiercer) make up the quartet of superheroes.
The first (highly-inappropriate) trailer for Ted 2 also released. The premiere trailer shows off our favorite R-rated Teddy Bear (voiced again by Seth MacFarlane) alongside his pal John (reprised by Mark Wahlberg). I still haven’t seen the first Ted but that’ll likely change before MacFarlane’s next project releases on June 26th. Check out the trailer above!
Although it’s a mere 31 seconds long, I did want to quickly show off the Super Bowl TV spot for the upcoming Terminator: Genisys film. The new footage shows us more of Arnold Schwarzenegger reprising his role as The Terminator. However, he’s joined by Emilia Clarke (HBO’s Game of Thrones) and Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) in Alan Taylor’s (Thor: The Dark World) “reset” (as opposed to a reboot I guess?). Genisys comes out July 1st.
Insurgent’s latest trailer is another very notable one, especially given its quickly-approaching release date (March 20th). Robert Schwentke (Flightplan) takes over the franchise and the latest trailer does a good job catching people up on what the next plot is about. I found Divergent (the original film in the franchise) to be a decent adaptation, so I hope the bar is raised a bit with the new movie. Insurgent again stars Shailene Woodley and Theo James but adds Naomi Watts and Octavia Spencer. Check out the Super Bowl trailer above.
Speaking of the Super Bowl, I’ve got a new TV spot for the film Kingsman: The Secret Service (which just so happens to be releasing soon on February 13th). Matthew Vaughn’s (X-Men: First Class) next movie stars Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson, and newcomer Taron Egerton. If you’re interested in the comedy-action film, the trailer above does a good job of exploring the unique style Vaughn has helped create. Check it out!
To go along with last week’s poster is the debut of a new Child 44 trailer. The period drama thriller about a man that uncovers some brutal child murders has a pretty impressive cast (which includes Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, and Gary Oldman). And by the looks of the trailer, this could be an interesting movie when it releases on April 17th. Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) helmed the movie.
To finish us off today, I’ve got a trailer for Sophie Barthes’ (Cold Souls) film adaptation, Madam Bovary. Mia Wasikowska (Stoker) will play the title character and she’s joined by Ezra Miller (The Perks of Being a Wallflower) and Paul Giamatti (Win Win) in the movie that’ll come out this year at an unspecified date. Until then, check out the trailer above.
Have a great rest of the day!
