Trailer Round-Up: Mad Max: Fury Road, Focus, Maps to the Stars, and More
Happy Monday! In today’s Trailer Round-Up (a usual Monday staple), I’ve got a variety of different movies that have released a new trailer the past week. There are two international trailers (for Mad Max: Fury Road and Infinitely Polar Bear), two red-band trailers (for Maps to the Stars and Kill Me Three Times), a follow-up to last week’s Focus trailer, as well as new trailers for Far From the Madding Crowd and Welcome to Me.
Each trailer is below with information regarding each movie. Enjoy.
First up is a short, but action-packed, international trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road. George Miller will again direct the latest Mad Max but the modern edition will star Tom Hardy (a very good choice), Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: Days of Future Past), and Charlize Theron. Check out the explosive trailer above and keep May 15th (its release date) open.
The (presumably) final trailer for Focus also released. This goes along with last week’s trailer which was titled “The Score.” This one highlights “The Plan” and showcases stars Will Smith and Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street). Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (Crazy, Stupid, Love) directed the movie that hits theaters this weekend already on February 27th.
Our first red-band trailer is for the satirical pic Maps to the Stars. David Cronenberg (Cosmopolis) helmed this project which is finally set to hit theaters starting this weekend (February 27th). Maps to the Stars has a great cast that includes Julianne Moore (coming off her Oscar win), Mia Wasikowska (Stoker), John Cusack, Robert Pattinson, and more. The trailer is above and gives you a glimpse at the movie’s interesting plot.
An international trailer for Infinitely Polar Bear released as well. Coming off a performance opposite a messed-up main character, Mark Ruffalo (Foxcatcher) will himself turn into the manic-depressive character. However, this time around, the movie is deemed a comedy (directed by Maya Forbes). If you’re interested, the first trailer is above and the movie also stars Zoe Saldana (Avatar).
Next up is a new trailer for the Carey Mulligan-starring film Far from the Madding Crowd. Based on Thomas Hardy’s novel of the same name, Madding Crowd is a period drama about a woman (Mulligan) with three distinctly different suitors. That alone doesn’t have me bubbling with excitement but I’ll reserve all judgment until I see Thomas Vinterberg’s (The Hunt) film starting May 1st.
After a new poster for Welcome to Me, we were lucky enough to get a new trailer. Shira Piven’s comedy-drama is led by Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids) but James Marsden (X-Men) also has a big role in the film that’s coming out May 1st as well. Check out the latest trailer above!
We’ll end today with the black comedy Kill Me Three Times. Its latest marketing was the red-band trailer that smartly shows off its main star Simon Pegg (The World’s End). However, Kriv Stenders’ (Red Dog) movie also stars Teresa Palmer (Warm Bodies) and Sullivan Stapleton (Cinemax’s Strike Back). I’d suggest taking a look at the trailer above. Kill Me Three Times is set to debut on April 10th.
