Tim Burton To Direct 3-D Movie MONSTERPOCALYPSE
DreamWorks has hired director Tim Burton to helm the 3D adaptation of the strategy board game ‘Monsterpocalypse.’ The upcoming film is the latest in a line of board games being adapted for the big screen that includes ‘Ouija,’ ‘Candyland,’ ‘Battleship,’ and ‘Monopoly.’
The storyline of the film sees humans fight back against giant monsters who come to Earth and start wreaking havoc. Though they believe they have defeated the invaders, the humans soon learn that the monsters are sending a distress signal into space calling for assistance. In the end the humans are prepared for reinforcements with robots developed to battle the invaders.
Roy Lee will be producing the film which was first learned of in May. Scriptwriter John August, who teamed with Burton on ‘Corpse Bride,’ joined the project in June now followed by Burton himself. The film will be shot in 3D with the goal of releasing it to theaters in 2012.
