James Cameron Confirms AVATAR Sequel Dates
It was only a matter of time before we could count on a return to Pandora. Entertainment Weekly confirms that James Cameron has release dates for not one, but two AVATAR sequels – both of which are already being written. Currently, Cameron plans to shoot the next two films together and release them a year apart in 2014 and 2015, a method of release much like The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy.
Will this timeline hold true? It’s hard to say. Given the intense computer work and editing of the Avatar films, it’s not unlikely for Cameron’s release dates to be pushed back. Still, the confirming news comes as a relief for Avatar fans who were holding their breath about any sort of sequel. And for the return of our beloved Pandora heroes…well, according to Cameron, “basically, if you survived the first film, you get to be in the second film, at least in some form.”
Personally, I loved the first film and while sequels can be hit or miss, I think this one will be worth it. Are you excited about the sequels and do you trust James Cameron to do them justice? Are you looking forward to seeing Zoe Saldana as a warrior again?
