‘The Hobbit’ Finishes Principal Photography
Director Peter Jackson is making fans of The Hobbit‘s hearts go pitter patter with the latest news that the cast and crew have finished up on principal photography. Jackson confirmed the news on his Facebook page just days ago and included a nice colorful photo of the helmer calling it a wrap.
The director also left a message for fans awaiting the two part saga. “We made it! Shoot day 266 and the end of principal photography on The Hobbit. Thanks to our fantastic cast and crew for getting us this far, and to all of you for your support! Next stop, the cutting room. Oh, and Comic Con! Cheers, Peter J.”
The first installment entitled ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ will arrive in theaters in 3D this year on December 14th. The movie will follow “the journey of Bilbo Baggins, played by Martin Freeman, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug.”
The second installment entitled ‘The Hobbit: There and Back Again’ will then be released in 2013 on December 13th. Here’s the premise – “Thorin and Company have reached Lake-town and it is time for the hobbit Bilbo Baggins to fulfill his contract with the dwarves. The party must complete the journey to Lonely Mountain and burglar Baggins must seek out the Secret Door that will give them access to the hoard of the dragon Smaug.”
