Photo Mania: Pacific Rim, Divergent, Killing Season, 12 Years a Slave, The Family, & Therese
In the inaugural Photo Mania post, I will be covering Pacific Rim, Divergent, Killing Season, 12 Years a Slave, The Family, and Therese. Click on over to this week’s trailers and posters if you get a chance.
A lot of new photos were released for Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim. As far as tent-pole blockbusters go, Pacific Rim is next up. By the looks of the pictures (and trailers), this could be one of the best looking action films in a long time. I’m hoping for more substance than other robot films (*cough*Transformers*cough*). The movie releases July 12. For more photos, scroll down to the bottom. (Source: Collider)
Divergent, another Young Adult novel adaptation, released ten more photos (most viewable below). The Shailene Woodley-starring picture isn’t due to release until March 21, 2014; however, you can expect to see a trailer soon (I would imagine). So far, all the marketing have been stills. The sci-fi film is directed by Neil Burger (Limitless).
Mark Steven Johnson’s (When in Rome) newest film, titled Killing Season, added to the new trailer with some photos. Releasing side-by-side with Pacific Rim, the pic starring John Travolta and Robert De Niro will be available July 12. There are nine more photos below.
The slavery drama 12 Years a Slave, based on Solomon Northup’s autobiography, will release December 27. Steve McQueen (Shame) directs Chiwetel Ejiofor (2012), Benedict Cumberbatch, and Michael Fassbender. Ejiofor will play a black man kidnapped and sold into the slave trade. More photos below. Another Robert De Niro movie, in Luc Besson’s (The Lady) The Family, released photos. It also stars Michelle Pfeiffer and Tommy Lee Jones and is about a family in the witness protection program overseas. It’ll hit North America September 13. There are a couple more photos below.
The first photo for Therese, starring Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene) and Tom Felton (Harry Potter), came out last week. The story about “obsessive love, adultery and revenge” will start its Oscar campaign on September 27. It’s based on Emile Zola’s novel Thérèse Raquin and directed by Charlie Stratton.
