Clip Mania: Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Divergent, and More
Welcome to this week’s Clip Mania! Before the weekend, I not only wanted to show off the latest clips for movies this weekend (300: Rise of an Empire and The Grand Budapest Hotel), but I wanted to look forward to the coming weeks and months. Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Divergent, Need for Speed, Rio 2, and Sabotage all released at least one new clip. Check them out below!
To recap the week, check out the latest trailers, posters, photos, and news stories.
Although it is technically one clip, Captain America: The Winter Soldier released an extended scene (over three minutes). This is nice for fans of the franchise and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Directed by the Russo Brothers (You, Me, and Dupree) and starring Chris Evans, Robert Redford, and Scarlett Johansson, the first true blockbuster of the year releases April 4th. Check out the clip if you want to know more.
Before Captain America, but arguably just as big is the YA adaptation Divergent. I’m getting excited for this movie myself as I am just (finally) finishing up the novel. Veronica Roth’s novel tells the dystopian story of a protagonist, Tris (Shailene Woodley), that is labelled as a “Divergent” and considered a threat to other factions (it is set in the future). Neil Burger (Limitless) directs the first film (of three) and it is due out March 21st. Take a look at two clips above.
Per usual, I’ve attached some clips for a movie releasing this weekend. 300: Rise of an Empire, the long-awaited (and pushed back) “sidequel” to Zack Snyder’s 300, released not one, two, or even three, but five new clips. Noam Murro’s directorial debut returns Eva Green and Rodrigo Santoro while adding Sullivan Stapleton (CineMax’s Strike Back). As usual, check them out above if it sounds interesting.
Two clips also released for Need for Speed – another upcoming March release. Starring Aaron Paul, Michael Keaton, Imogen Poots (28 Weeks Later), and hip-hop artist Kid Cudi, the movie is due out in a week on March 14th. Scott Waugh (Act of Valor) directed the movie. Besides the clips above, we’ve got more coverage on the film over here, including even more clips.
Just like 300: Rise of an Empire, Wes Anderson’s (Moonrise Kingdom) The Grand Budapest Hotel also comes out this weekend. Like Need for Speed, Clip Mania has been a frequent landing spot for this movie (check out all the coverage here). Unlike all the other films, though, this one is a limited release (unfortunately for us in smaller markets). I am excited to see this movie nonetheless, so I’ll be checking the listings every week. Watch the clip above if you’re as excited as me for the movie starring Ralph Fiennes (Harry Potter), Bill Murray, and Edward Norton.
Rio 2 also uploaded a clip online. The sequel will return director Carlos Saldanha and voice stars Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway, Jamie Foxx, and more. The latest clips welcomes us back before the movie comes out on April 11th (one week after Captain America).
Finally, a clip (this one green-band) for David Ayer’s (End of Watch) action thriller Sabotage released. Frequent action star Arnold Schwarzenegger will lead the film that’ll also feature Sam Worthington (Avatar) and Olivia Williams (Anna Karenina). Check out the clip before the movie comes out later this month on March 28th.
Have a great weekend!
