Poster Mania: Transformers: Age of Extinction, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and More
In this week’s edition of Poster Mania, I’ve featured seven films that appeal to a wide variety of different audiences. This includes blockbusters like Transformers: Age of Extinction and Captain America: The Winter Soldier and limited releases like Two Step. In between, there is a remake (Godzilla), a Disney movie (Maleficent), a film adaptation of a popular book (The Maze Runner), and a raunchy comedy (Sex Tape). Talk about everything!
Check the posters below and catch up on the latest trailers here.
Another week, another Transformers: Age of Extinction poster. And you can probably expect another one next week at this rate. Michael Bay’s latest robotic action film has a new set of stars, including Mark Wahlberg and Kelsey Grammer (NBC’s Cheers), but (as you can see in the poster above) the robots are the same. Age of Extinction – the fourth in the franchise – comes out on June 27th. (Source: Yahoo)
The only gallery of posters this week belongs to the Russo Brothers’ (You Me and Dupree) Captain America film (formally titled Captain America: The Winter Soldier). In the character posters, you can see the six most notable ones. Among them, you’ll see returners Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson alongside Sebastian Stan (who plays the Winter Soldier). The next Marvel movie is due out already on April 4th. (Source: Comingsoon)
I also wanted to include a really cool Mondo poster for Godzilla. Directed by Gareth Edwards (Monsters), the monster remake is rocketing up a lot of peoples’ anticipation lists. The movie stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Nowhere Boy), Bryan Cranston, and Elizabeth Olsen (Oldboy). This one releases May 16th. (Source: Yahoo)
Also in May is Maleficent – the next in line one this week’s Poster Mania. This film is a live-action tale based on the Disney villain. Above is the banner for the film that shows off star Angelina Jolie and her black swan-like wings. A new trailer is coming up this week, so check back next Monday for that! The movie is directed by Robert Stromberg and should release officially on May 30th. (Source: LA Times)
The Maze Runner – another exciting release – also debuted a poster. The main thing to see here is the giant labyrinth. It is also in line to release a trailer for those wondering. If you don’t know a lot about the film, you may want to check out the book before the movie adaptation (set to release on September 19th). The film is directed by Wes Ball and stars Dylan O’Brien (High Road) and Will Poulter (We’re the Millers). (Source: MTV)
The comedy fix this week is for the raunchy comedy Sex Tape. As you can probably tell by the title, it has to do with a risque video that goes missing. While that may not be the best selling point (or maybe it is?), the inclusion of stars Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel probably makes things a little better. Jake Kasdan (Bad Teacher) directs the movie that comes out on July 25th. P.S. The logline on the poster is just awful…but still check it out above. (Source: IMP Awards)
The final poster is definitely unlike the rest. For one, the movie isn’t that well-known. Titled Two Step, it is a movie that is poised for a limited release. For two, it is a thriller. For three, it is full of mostly unknowns, such as Beth Broderick (ABC’s Lost) and James Landry Hebert (Gangster Squad). Still, I thought the poster was worth mentioning before the movie releases. At this time, a firm date hasn’t been set. (Source: Comingsoon)
